Jerry Jones is known for taking big swings, and it has often paid off in a big way, especially buying a Dallas Cowboys team and turning it around. Media personality Colin Cowherd wants this 82-year-old businessman to make a similar bet on coach Deion Sanders to get his team back on track.
Colin Cowherd Urges Jerry Jones To Take Tough Calls
The Cowboys have been disappointing fans, standing at 3-7 with almost no certainty about their future or playoff hopes.
According to Cowherd, the team is bankrupt in big ways. Dak Prescott has been a bust, Mike McCarthy has been terribly underperforming, and the entire roster is messed up with no breakout star to salvage this slump.
On Tuesday (Nov. 19), Cowherd shared his analysis of the current Cowboys situation and asked Jones to place his bet on Sanders just like he did while buying the team. He also suggested a Micah Parsons trade along with three first-round picks, if necessary, in return for Prime’s son, Shedeur.
"I would go get Deion Sanders. I would pick Shedeur Sanders. If I had to give up Micah Parsons and three firsts, I would do it."

“I’m here to tell you if I was the Dallas Cowboys, I don’t care about Dak’s new contract, I would go get Deion Sanders. I would pick Shadeur Sanders. If I had to give up Micah Parsons and three firsts, I would do it. You do not get out of bankruptcy putting $13 a month into your 401K, you get out of it with big swings,” Cowherd mentioned.
“That’s how you get out of it. You start looking at the draft order. You look at Dallas’ schedule. The only team they play the rest of the year that’s got nothing to play for is the Giants, if the Giants can beat them. And Dallas is awful at home, not much better on the road. They got a shot to get the No. 1 pick. They got a real shot. Yes, Dak will be upset if you draft shoulder Sanders. So what?” he asked.
Cowherd also cited the Denver Broncos’ example that has almost gotten itself back in the game from the Russell Wilson disaster. The team signed Sean Payton despite a huge cap hit and picked rookie QB Bo Nix. The future looks bright for the team. Similarly, Jones has a tough call to make.
Deion Sanders Addressed Rumors Around His Potential NFL Transition
It’s too early to make a final decision, but at the moment, Coach Prime stands firm in Colorado. He has been a pioneer in transforming the program. The team is currently 8-2 and has secured postseason eligibility, marking a new beginning in the Big 12 conference.
“I’m happy where I am, man,” Sanders said this week while addressing the Cowboys rumor with Michael Irvin. “I’ve got a kickstand down. You know what a kickstand is? … That means I’m resting. I’m good, I’m happy, I’m excited. I’m enthusiastic about where I am. I love it here, truly do,” he added.
Shedeur Sanders is expected to be a top-10 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. The Cowboys happen to be a credible spot for him to land and it’d be a huge win for Jerry Jones if it materializes.
