Jerry Jones Breaks Silence on Deion Sanders Rumors

Coach Prime has been pivotal to the Cowboys’ esteemed legacy as one of the top players from the history books. When Jerry Jones took the reins in 1989 after purchasing the NFL team, one of the major moves he made was roster adjustments. He made significant additions, and Sanders was one of them.

The team went on to win three Super Bowls later, leaving a rich legacy for generations to follow. Recently, there have been theories about Prime returning to the Cowboys again, but as a coach. But Jones, who kept mum for a while, opened up.

“I think we’re way ahead of ourselves relative to when and if he decides to go into coaching in the NFL,” Jones said on 105.3 The FAN on Thursday. He also gave Sanders due credit for his incredible skills that set him apart.

“One of his greatest skills that he really brings to college is that he almost has no peer as far as being a recruiter. Kids want to come play for him. And he has a way of selling that. That is one skill, that recruiting skill, that is not a huge prerequisite for NFL coaches,” he added.

Dallas Cowboys Going Through a Rough Patch

So far, it has been a disastrous campaign for Mike McCarthy and his men at 3-7. They are currently on a five-game losing streak, and the slump is expected to increase even more when they face the Washington Commanders this weekend. The team might find themselves in contention for the No. 1 overall pick.

Mike McCarthy’s woes, complacency in the locker room, and the myriad of injuries have all added up to a much bigger issue. A tough call needs to be taken soon, and only Jerry Jones knows when to pull that trigger.
