The New York Jets are unraveling at an alarming rate, and their 3-8 record has led to discussions about Aaron Rodgers and his future with the team. After general manager Joe Douglas was fired, questions surrounding the 40-year-old quarterback have only intensified.
NFL insiders believe Rodgers’ time in New York is nearing an end, but star receiver Davante Adams has a different perspective.
Davante Adams Has Clear Verdict on Aaron Rodgers’ Situation With the Jets
Appearing on the Up & Adams Show, the Jets WR was asked by host Kay Adams, “There is a world where he [Rodgers] is not a Jet next year. How many times have you two talked about the future of Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams.”
Adams dismissed it as a distraction, saying, “We both have a positive mindset in the way that we want to attack every week. So if we get to talking about him, you know, being on a different team, me being on a different team, like that’s just not what we need in our heads right now. We got to put nothing with positive energy and thoughts out there and just keep working.”
Adams continued, “We got six weeks left, and we’re not out of it. So the chances are really low. We see all the percentages and all this stuff. But at the end of the day, all we can do is, you know, worry about the next game.”

Despite Adams’ optimistic outlook, Rodgers’ performance this season hasn’t made much of a case for him. The veteran QB ranks 11th in passing yards with 2,441 and 17 touchdowns. The Jets QB might be a four-time MVP, but he has failed to meet the lofty expectations placed upon him.
More troubling is his inability to rekindle the chemistry with Adams that defined their time in Green Bay. NFL insider Judy Battista doubted Rodgers’ future on The Insiders podcast, citing his age, declining performance, and the Jets’ inevitable rebuild.
“Both Joe Douglas and Robert Saleh are gone. They are clearly going to clean house, and to be realistic, what general manager or head coach candidate would want to start out with a 41-year-old quarterback coming off what might turn out to be the worst season of his professional career?”
After the bye week, the Jets will go head-to-head against the likes of the Seattle Seahawks and Miami Dolphins. There’s no pressure on Rodgers, but he’ll have limited opportunities to prove his doubters wrong and salvage the Jets’ season.
His former Green Bay teammate remains publicly supportive. As for fans and analysts, the clock is ticking, and Rodgers is losing to Father Time. It’ll be interesting to see whether the veteran quarterback can lead a late-season resurgence or if the Jets will look to move on.
