Todd McShay blasted Jets owner Woody Johnson for firing GM Joe Douglas, saying the real issue lies with ownership, not the roster.

The New York Jets’ season just hit a new low, and one NFL analyst is tearing into owner Woody Johnson as a result. Firing general manager Joe Douglas amid this chaos? A questionable move. With playoff hopes fading and the locker room in turmoil, it feels like throwing fuel on fire.

Now, analysts are roasting Johnson’s timing, logic, and the bigger cost of this latest Jets blunder.

Todd McShay Slams Woody Johnson: Jets’ Problems Go Beyond Joe Douglas

Todd McShay just dropped a bomb on the Jets, and it’s all aimed squarely at Johnson.

McShay didn’t mince words when he said, “Joe will be fine, the Jets won’t,” making it crystal clear that the issue isn’t Joe Douglas or the roster — it’s the ownership. McShay called Johnson “among the worst owners in the NFL,” which is a punch to the gut for anyone hoping for a quick fix in New York.

The draft analyst’s frustration lies in the fact that with such a talented roster and Douglas as GM, if they can’t win, then the problem’s deep-rooted. As McShay put it, “If the Jets can’t win with Joe Douglas as the general manager and with the talent that is on that roster, the Jets can’t win. Period.”

Ouch. For McShay, this isn’t just about one bad season — it’s an ownership problem, and it runs through the core of the franchise.

“There are certain decisions that are just made that doesn’t matter what the GM wants, certain decisions you just get onboard with because one person pays the check and one person oversees the whole thing,” McShay explains, highlighting the reality that when you have an owner like Johnson, certain decisions will always be out of the general manager’s hands.

It’s the classic ownership “we’re in charge” vibe that stifles any hope for change.

His message to Jets fans? “I feel badly for Jets fans because if it’s not gonna work with this regime, with that talent, I don’t see much of a future in terms of where it’s gonna be.”

And that’s the heartbreaking reality: Without a shift in ownership, the future looks bleak. As McShay concluded, “You probably don’t overcome this.”

For Jets fans, this might be as grim as it gets. When ownership is the issue, change is nearly impossible.

Johnson hit the panic button in firing Douglas mid-season.

Six straight losing seasons? Check. The longest playoff drought in the NFL (and all major sports leagues)? Check.

And yet, the Jets are still stuck in a rut.

In a statement, Johnson thanked Douglas for his time and introduced Phil Savage (former Chicago Bears GM) as the interim. But after firing HC Robert Saleh in October, is this just another desperate attempt to save a sinking ship?

The Jets have already swapped their play-caller, promoted their defensive coordinator, and snagged Davante Adams. Yet, they still lost at home in Week 11 to the Indianapolis Colts.

So, what’s next for Gang Green: More chaos or a long-overdue reboot? Only time will tell.
