‘It Can Only Be One Star Shining in Dallas’ – Cam Newton Has Eye-Catching Verdict on Potential Deion Sanders to Cowboys Move

    Published on

Cam Newton thinks Deion Sanders coaching the Dallas Cowboys might not be the best move. Could there be a better option for long-term success?

Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders has turned a struggling program into a powerhouse, leading his team to an 8-2 record this season. After Week 12, the Buffaloes are a strong College Football Playoff contender, and rumors are already floating that after the season ends, Coach Prime might enter the NFL to coach his former team, the Dallas Cowboys.

However, former Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton thinks otherwise. In his podcast, “4th and 1,” Newton discussed why the two-time Super Bowl champ should not be paired with Cowboys’ owner Jerry Jones. He stated:

“If the Dallas Cowboys hired Deion Sanders as their head coach, I don’t know if the sports world is ready, but I’m a little reluctant to that though. It only can be one star shinin’ in Dallas.”

Cam Newton Doesn’t Think Deion Sanders Should Go To Dallas

Newton feels there cannot be two stars on one team, explaining in detail why by giving an example of former Cowboys head coach Jimmy Johnson.

Johnson was the head coach in Dallas from 1989 to 1993, and what he did was truly exceptional for the franchise. He led the Cowboys to three NFC Championship Games and won them back-to-back Super Bowls (1992 and 1993).

However, Newton doesn’t feel Jerry Jones awarded Johnson the due credit. The

“Because think about this: Jimmy Johnson was coach, who inevitably coached even Prime Time. He has a big ego. What happened to him? He was an excellent coach. Jerry Jones thought it was him. We winning because of me. Jimmy Johnson was like, No, we winning cause of me. Fast forward a couple decades later, Jimmy Johnson was right,” Newton said.

Though Jones is 82 years old, he’s still very active when it comes to his team’s important decisions. If chosen, Sanders might not get full control in managing America’s Team. But if, by chance, the Cowboys — who are currently struggling with a 3-6 record — do hire Sanders and they do well next season, it would be interesting to see what happens afterward.

Newton Suggests Sanders Return to Florida State for Long-Term Success

Newton might not be in favor of Deion Sanders coaching the Cowboys, but he has a team in mind that Prime Time should consider if he is looking for a coaching change — the Florida State Seminoles.

“If you bring Prime Time to Dallas, I don’t know if that’s a recipe for longevity. If I was Coach Prime, I’d go back to Tallahassee. That’s more longevity than Dallas,” said Newton.

If Sanders goes back to Tallahassee, Newton believes Prime Time would have a huge advantage. He would be able to build a powerful team due to the resources available to him, including the university’s financial backing and strong NIL deals.

The Seminoles, who went 13-1 last season, have fallen off their way and are currently ranked last in the ACC with a 1-9 overall record. Can Tallahassee be Coach Prime’s new home?
