Jared Goff and the Detroit Lions eviscerated the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 11, allowing the Lions quarterback to get some well-deserved time off.
Why Jared Goff Didn’t Finish the Game in Week 11
The Lions inserted backup quarterback Hendon Hooker with 9:53 remaining in the fourth quarter due to the lopsided nature of this game. Detroit led 49-6 at the time of removing Goff, as well as several other key starters.
With the win, the Lions will improve to 9-1 with their eighth straight win, Detroit’s longest win streak since a nine-game streak spanning the 2010-11 seasons. It’s the franchise’s second-longest win streak within a single season, trailing a 10-game win streak in 1934.
Goff had an easy day with the “Sonic and Knuckles” tandem of Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery doing much of the damage. Montgomery and Gibbs combined to score the first three touchdowns, though Goff added on with a 27-yard touchdown to Amon-Ra. St. Brown.

The Lions’ No. 2 receiver also got in on the action in the second half, with Jameson Williams going 64 yards to the house on their first drive of the third quarter.

Goff finished the day 24 of 29 for 412 yards, four touchdowns, and a perfect 158.3 passer rating. He threw for more than 200 yards in each half.
Overall, the Lions reached the end zone on all seven of their drives with Goff in the game, with the hapless Jags providing no resistance.
By PFN’s QB+ metric, Goff posted a 92.1 grade, good for an A-minus. It’s the eighth-highest for a quarterback in a game this season. He also averaged an absurd 1.04 EPA per dropback, the highest by any QB in 2024.
This is Goff’s second career game with a perfect passer rating, with the other coming in 2018 vs. the Minnesota Vikings as a member of the Los Angeles Rams. Goff is the third player in league history with a perfect passer rating for two different teams (minimum 20 pass attempts), joining Tom Brady (Patriots and Buccaneers) and Kurt Warner (Rams and Cardinals).
Detroit remains firmly in control of the top seed in the NFC. Their biggest remaining stretch is from Weeks 13-16, which will feature three out of four games against their division rivals, plus a home game against the Buffalo Bills.
You need not worry about any health concerns to Goff for your fantasy football lineups or future betting tickets. He’s healthy, and Detroit is as dangerous as any to win the final game of this season.
