Former Kansas City Chiefs star Marquez Valdes-Scantling took a subtle shot at Patrick Mahomes while praising Aaron Rodgers.

The New York Jets find themselves in a tough spot with their 3-6 record this season. With quarterback Aaron Rodgers struggling to put points up on the board, the chances of the Jets making it to the playoffs are paper-thin.

Marquez Valdes-Scantling Weighs in on Aaron Rodgers

While various fans and analysts hope and urge Rodgers to announce his retirement after this season to save his legacy, his former teammate Marquez Valdes-Scantling still believes the four-time MVP has what it takes to carry the Jets to the playoffs.

During a recent interview, Valdes-Scantling said, “You’ve always got a shot with that guy [Aaron Rodgers]. I think he’s the best player ever to play that game in the quarterback position. So if you got that guy on your team, you always have a shot to win. He’s one of my favorite teammates and one of the closest friends I’ve ever made in the NFL. I think he is the best ever, and I guess I played with some of the best ever.”

While it is heartwarming to see Rodgers’ old teammate stand up for him, many fans pointed out one cryptic thing from Valdes-Scantling’s statement.

The New Orleans Saints star has shared the field with several elite signal-callers, including Josh Allen, Rodgers, and three-time Super Bowl champ Patrick Mahomes, which is exactly why fans weren’t happy with his comment.

Rodgers is certainly one of the better quarterbacks of this generation, but Mahomes has proven his abilities to be called “the best quarterback” time and time again.

Disagreeing with Valdes-Scantling’s statement, one fan said, “the best ever! Yet a certain someone got you 2 but cool. You got it, bro. Smh.”

“Bruh rodgers never got you that ring and you was there for hella seasons….15 got MVs a ring first yr in kc…..MVS just hatting kc kicked him out,” another fan added.

Another fan said, “Mahomes got you a ring. I’m sorry you weren’t good enough to stay on the team.”

Another fan pointed out, “It’s Best to play the game at the quarterback position, and you played with Pat?!”

“Damn Mahomes & Allen, to say Rodger’s is the BEST to EVER play the position is wild…when he’s CLEARLY not.” another fan added.

“I’m surprised he didn’t say Carr is the best QB to ever play” another fan sarcastically shared.

Is Aaron Rodgers Retiring After This Season?

The four-time MVP is now 40 years old and is clearly struggling to perform in a way that his team would benefit from this season.

While many people believe Rodgers should retire so he can be remembered for his contribution to the game, the former Green Bay Packers star doesn’t think so.

During a recent press conference, the Jets quarterback brushed off the retirement rumors and said, “I think so, yeah … not really, not for the negative, I’m not playing as well as I would’ve liked to play, for sure. The beauty in this game is it’s a team game.”
