Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders has been setting the narrative on his son and expected top pick in next year’s NFL Draft, quarterback Shedeur Sanders. While the coach hasn’t mentioned or pinpointed any NFL team to draft him, Coach Prime did put weight behind having the necessary infrastructure that can propel his son’s talents further.
Deion Sanders’ Direct Aim at NFL Teams Looking To Draft Shedeur Sanders
Though there’s nothing wrong with vouching for his son, says Keyshawn Johnson, who himself was picked No. 1 overall in 1996 by the New York Jets, some NFL coaches are getting “jealous” due to the heavy involvement of Coach Prime ahead of the draft.
“He’s trying to control this, and you’re always gonna get the jealousy of a few, just a handful of guys in the league — that’s personnel, you know, the ‘sources say’ type dudes, the anonymous ones,” Johnson said on the latest episode of Speak.
“You’re gonna get that; it happens. ‘Sanders doesn’t know what he’s talking about.’ You’re gonna get that because that’s just part of it. But good, I bet you he’d welcome it with no problem at all.”
Coach Prime recently appeared on Speak, discussing various things alongside Michael Irvin, Johnson, and others. During the podcast, Irvin asked the Colorado HC if he has any particular team/region in mind of who should draft his son, Shedeur.
Deion Sanders, instead, mentioned the requirement an NFL team should have.
“Somebody that can handle the quarterback that (Shedeur) is. Somebody that can handle understanding what he’s capable of,” Sanders said. “Someone that has had success in the past handling quarterbacks or someone in an organization [who] understands what they’re doing, not just throwing you out there amongst the wolves.”
Adding more to the conversation, Johnson asked what if the team that drafts Shedeur doesn’t fall in line with Deion Sanders’ expectations. Coach Prime had a no-nonsense response:
“Yeah, but I’m not gonna do it publicly,” Sanders said. “I’ll do it privately.”

Several NFL teams are eyeing Shedeur Sanders’ services. One among them is the Las Vegas Raiders, who have Tom Brady as their minority owner.
While the team itself hasn’t been great over the last few years, the Buffaloes quarterback learning at the feet of seven-time Super Bowl champion might just appease Deion Sanders to not pull an “Eli” after the draft.
