Dallas Cowboys faithful have long hoped for deeper playoff runs, with Dak Prescott as the franchise quarterback leading the charge. After all, the Cowboys signed Prescott to a massive four-year, $240 million extension just this past September, placing immense trust in his leadership.
LeSean McCoy Airs Serious Doubts on Dak Prescott
However, Prescott’s season has come to an abrupt halt due to a significant hamstring injury. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones announced on Nov. 12 that Prescott will need hamstring surgery following his Week 9 injury against the Falcons (Dallas lost 27-21).
This injury means Prescott will miss the remainder of the season, which has only fueled more doubts about his future in Dallas, including some from two-time Super Bowl champion LeSean “Shady” McCoy.
McCoy refused to mince his words as he reflected on Prescott’s trajectory on the latest episode of The Facility on FS1.
“I think Dak’s best days are behind him. Like way behind him,” McCoy said bluntly. Referring to Prescott’s high salary, McCoy added, “You play for the Dallas Cowboys. And we need championships. And if you can’t give a championship, give us playoff wins.”

McCoy also implied that Prescott’s substantial paycheck isn’t justified, especially with recent first-round playoff exits like last year’s loss to a young Packers team.
“So my thing is, you give him all this money for what?” McCoy questioned. “Because he’s not gonna give you no wins in the playoffs. He’s not gonna do that well. So the better days for him is over with.”
America’s Team continues to grapple with losses, including the latest loss of their star QB for the season.
Tight End Jake Ferguson on Dallas Cowboys’ Future After Dak Exit
The Cowboys’ season has hit a rough patch, with Prescott sidelined for the remainder of the 2024 season due to a hamstring injury. Their record sits at 3-6, and they’re coming off a tough 34-6 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. Cooper Rush is expected to step in as the starting quarterback with Prescott out, with backup Trey Lance potentially sharing snaps.
However, both struggled in Week 10, combining for just 66 passing yards and an interception.
Tight end Jake Ferguson has expressed faith in Rush and Lance, speaking to CBS Sports about their dedication. “I have all the faith in the world in those two,” Ferguson shared, reminiscing about his first NFL touchdown from a Rush pass.
Ferguson highlighted their work ethic, saying, “The way those two approach the game… full steam ahead with supreme confidence.” He also noted his role in boosting their confidence: “My job… is not only to do my job at the best level that I can but also to give them that confidence that, ‘Hey, I can throw the ball to 87 if I need to.’”

Ferguson’s words hint that America’s Team is not yet ready to give up. They are counting on their backup quarterbacks, and Ferguson’s faith in his teammates aims to keep the Cowboys’ playoff aspirations alive in Prescott’s absence.
