One former Super Bowl champion threw an interesting MVP candidate into the mix -- could we see a dark horse win the award in 2024?

After securing a national championship in 2023 with the Michigan Wolverines, head coach Jim Harbaugh moved on in his career and took the Los Angeles Chargers under his wings for another notable impact.

While the start of the season wasn’t ideal for Harbaugh and the team, the Chargers seemed to have found their momentum, winning three in a row.

Is Chargers QB Justin Herbert a Forgotten Man in the MVP Race?

The Chargers now sit at a record of 6-3, just behind the back-to-back champion Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC West.

One of the major things fans and analysts obsess over under Harbaugh’s leadership is their quarterback Justin Herbert’s improved performance this year.

During a segment of the show called The Facility, former NFL quarterback Chase Daniels gushed over Herbert’s new and improved abilities:

“Yeah, I agree with you. The Chargers are legitimate threats, mainly because at defense, but on the other side of the football, with Justin Herbert, ensuing his first four years in the league, he averaged 39 attempts a game. If they keep winning, you want to discuss a dark horse for the MVP? But he won’t win.

“I’m talking about the plays he is making in the game. There have been elite plays to do it. He’s playing with a brand new bravado, brand new, like swagger. I really like it.”

The Harbaugh-led Chargers secured a 27-17 win over the Tennessee Titans.

During a conversation with Pat McAfee, coach Harbaugh couldn’t stop raving over Herbert’s latest achievement:

“He’s a beast, half man, half beast. He’s our guardian of victory, and it’s infectious in all of us. You and I’ve all been on teams, right?

“I mean, you see, you see players when they make plays. You know, really, that the toughness kind of plays, you know, it rubs off on you. It puts puts steel in your spine. Okay, if he can do that if he’s laying it on the line like that, then I can lay it on the line like that.”

The Chargers will face the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday Night Football in Week 11, a crucial battle for both teams’ playoff dreams.
