‘It’s Not Even Comparable’ — Micah Parsons Names 24-TD Quarterback as Clear Front-Runner for MVP

    Published on

Dallas Cowboys star Micah Parsons has his say on which quarterback should be the frontrunner for the MVP award this year.

After missing four games due to an ankle injury, Micah Parsons made his return in Week 10 against the Philadelphia Eagles. Unfortunately, his presence was not enough for the Dallas Cowboys, as they lost 34-6.

In a recent segment on his podcast, “The Edge with Micah Parsons,” the Cowboys star talked about the MVP race. He thinks the quarterback of a 7-3 AFC team deserves to be the front-runner ahead of Patrick Mahomes, whose team is 9-0 to start the season.

Micah Parsons Picks Lamar Jackson for MVP Over Patrick Mahomes

Parsons thinks Lamar Jackson should be the clear front-runner to win the MVP award. He picked the Baltimore Ravens ahead of Mahomes and Jared Goff.

“I mean, right now, as we’ve seen the throws, what Lamar is doing right now, it is not even incomparable,” Parsons said. “Lamar should be the clear front-runner for MVP. This is, by far, his best season since I’ve been in the league since I’ve seen him. He’s just looked unstoppable, he’s confident, his receivers seem confident. Just everything about them just seemed way more confident, man; Lamar, just that guy.

“You say the person below him is probably Goff. You know, Goff and Mahomes, but no one’s touching Lamar right now; that win against the [Cincinnati Bengals,] wow. I mean, I think that was a great weekend of football. … And, you know, these quarterbacks are just lighting up right now. So, you know, shout out to Lamar.”

Jackson has undoubtedly been the best quarterback this season, and he is having a much better season than last year when he also won the MVP award. In 10 games this season, he has thrown for 2,669 yards, 24 touchdowns, and just two interceptions, completing a career-high 69.1% of his throws with a passer rating of 123.2.

Jackson is only behind Joe Burrow among the quarterbacks with the most passing yards this season and is tied with the Bengals quarterback in the category of most passing touchdowns.

The Ravens star has also rushed for 538 yards and two touchdowns, averaging 5.9 yards per carry. He currently has the best odds to win the MVP award, followed by Josh Allen and Mahomes. It will require a complete meltdown from the Ravens for Parsons’ front-runner to miss out on the MVP award this year.

Cowboys Have Lost 4 Straight Games

The Cowboys’ season has been a complete disaster. They have now lost four straight games and could potentially finish the season with one of the worst records in the league.

Dak Prescott, who suffered a hamstring injury last week, could miss the rest of the season as he is expected to have surgery. Moreover, the team’s offense looked completely awful with both Cooper Rush and Trey Lance against the Eagles.

Here are the Cowboys’ remaining fixtures:

There isn’t a single game here that Dallas is guaranteed to win, as the Panthers have also started playing better. This would mean the team will likely have a top-five pick in next year’s NFL Draft, and there will be pressure on Jerry Jones to get the roster right for whoever he hires as the new head coach.

Dallas has lost all four home games this season, with their defense allowing an average of 38.2 points per game. The Cowboys currently have the second-worst scoring and run defense in the league.

Jones has confirmed that he will not make a coaching change until the end of the season, but once the season is over, expect Dallas to make a flurry of moves.
