When it’s Jerry Jones, expect the unexpected. The Cowboys’ owner is no stranger to controversy. But his latest response to a reporter’s question has taken things to new heights. Fans are in full meltdown mode, and social media is full of interesting reactions.
After the Cowboys’ most recent loss, Jones was asked a simple question about the stadium that he built for his team. His response? Let’s just say it’s got fans questioning whether the real problem in Big D is the sun — or something much bigger.
Jerry Jones’ Sarcastic Curtain Response Sparks Backlash From Cowboys Fans
Jones, always down to stir the pot, turned a simple question about stadium curtains into a legit media spectacle. When asked about the sun shining through AT&T Stadium’s curtains, he shot back, “Let’s tear the damn stadium down and build another one! The world knows where the sun is. What about the sun? Where’s the moon?”
Dallas fans? Not impressed. The tweet from Cowboys insider Fish Sports blew up, with Cowboys Nation roasting Jones for dodging a real issue with sarcasm. One fan, expressing frustration, tweeted, “Jerry Jones is the most incompetent GM in all of professional sports.”

For many, it wasn’t just about the curtain issue. It was about the 82-year-old’s stubbornness and inability to own up to mistakes.
Fans pointed out how Jones often deflects real issues with sarcastic responses.
“Jerry is butthurt and taking it out on media. He thinks we are nitpicking when in reality it’s a bigger issue than he thinks,” one fan chimed in.
“Maybe if more players like CD start standing up & saying that “1000%” need curtains maybe Jones will fix the issue but they didn’t after the 9ners Playoff game so why admit he was wrong now,” another quipped.

Others were quick to express their disappointment, alluding to how his pride often gets in the way of fixing problems that plague the Cowboys.
“His pride is the bane of this organization,” noted one fan.
“Ridiculous answer. Plus roof was closed for perfect football weather. Texans playing tonight .. roof open,” another user wrote.
“I’m pretty sure that even you guys get tired of the stubbornness from Ole Paw Paw Jerry,” alluded one fan.
All of this stemmed from a star WR CeeDee Lamb admitting after the game that the reason he missed a wide-open three-yard touchdown pass from Cooper Rush was because he lost the ball with the sun in his eyes. Every fan watching the game on TV could see that the WR was blinded by the light shining through the stadium’s massive open windows.
“I couldn’t see the ball. Couldn’t see the ball, at all. The sun,” Lamb said after the 34-6 loss to the Eagles.
Since AT&T Stadium was constructed and opened to the public, the sun has always been an issue. AT&T Stadium is unique in the sense that the field faces from East to West instead of North and South. This causes a pretty substantial glare to shine through, one that is especially problematic after daylight savings, when the sun is going down during the afternoon window.
Jones Clashes With Radio Hosts, Defends Roster
Jones pulled no punches during his radio appearance a few weeks back. With tensions high after the Cowboys’ 47-9 loss to the Lions, the longtime GM went toe-to-toe with 105.3 The Fan hosts Shan Shariff, R.J. Choppy, and Bobby Belt. When grilled about the team’s offseason moves, Jones wasn’t having it:
“This is not your job,” he snapped, threatening their jobs in the process.
Frustrated but unyielding, Jones defended his roster. He touted Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb’s record-breaking contracts and dismissed defense injuries as an excuse.
“You can’t compensate for the gap between the way our offense played and the way we were supposed to play,” he said, doubling down on his vision. And when talk turned to Mike McCarthy’s future? No chance. Jones shut down the coaching change talk with, “I won’t be making any others during the season.”
With Dallas’ season hanging in the balance, Jones’ fiery words are sure to add gasoline to the fire. Will his tough stance lead to a turnaround or just more scrutiny? Time will tell. But as of right now, Pro Football Network’s Playoff Predictor gives the Cowboys a whopping 1% chance to make the playoffs, and an even worse 0.1% chance of winning the Super Bowl.
