Aaron Rodgers Injury Update: Latest on Jets QB After Week 10 Injury vs. Cardinals

    Published on

Here's the latest on New York Jets QB Aaron Rodgers after he sustained an injury against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 10.

New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers suffered an apparent injury in the club’s Week 10 matchup against the Arizona Cardinals. Here’s the latest after Sunday’s game.

    What Happened to Aaron Rodgers?

Rodgers visited the blue medical tent on New York’s sideline after taking a hard hit on a sack-fumble midway through the third quarter.

The Jets were down 24-6 and facing a 4th-and-goal from Arizona’s 3-yard line. Rodgers was strip-sacked by Cardinals defender Xavier Thomas before linebacker Kyzir White recovered the fumble.

Rodgers was evaluated for a concussion after the play, according to Connor Hughes of SNY. The 40-year-old signal-caller went down hard on the sack, so the NFL’s independent concussion experts signaled for Rodgers to be removed from the game and checked.

Rodgers had completed 10 of 17 attempts for just 79 yards before being evaluated for a concussion. The Cardinals scored after recovering his fumble, extending their lead to 31-6.

Did Rodgers Return in Week 10?

Rodgers cleared the NFL’s concussion protocol and returned to the game on the Jets’ next offensive drive.

Had Rodgers been forced to miss time, backup quarterback Tyrod Taylor would have taken over under center. He’s only played in one game this season, completing six of eight attempts for 36 yards and a touchdown in a blowout Week 1 loss to the San Francisco 49ers.

Pro Football Network ranks Taylor as the NFL’s ninth-best backup QB.

Rodgers finished the Week 10 contest completing 22 of 35 passes for 151 yards, zero touchdowns, and zero interceptions.

Grading Rodgers’ Week 10 Performance vs. the Cardinals

Pro Football Network’s QB+ Metric uses a formula for assigning a letter grade to every quarterback’s performance. Is it perfect? No. Nothing is.

We’re molding stats that include success rates when pressured, third-down conversion rate, and pocket production. The added wrinkle in this PFN Insight is quantifying “clutch.” Defining “clutch” performance is an imperfect science. In this case, we’ve used timeliness-based stats to account for score and situation.

Through Week 9, Rodgers’ grade was a C. The last month had been his best four-week spell of the 2024 season, potentially suggesting we could see him improve over the coming weeks.

Instead, Rodgers struggled against the Cardinals, averaging just 4.3 yards per attempt on 38 dropbacks while taking three sacks and losing a fumble. Gang Green never got in the end zone, managing just six points on two Greg Zuerlein field goals.

Rodgers earned a D in QB+ for his Week 10 showing. Only Daniel Jones, Caleb Williams, and Cooper Rush received worse marks on Sunday. Rodgers’ Week 10 grade was his second-worst of the season, trailing his abysmal showing against the Denver Broncos in Week 4.

After losing to Arizona to fall to 3-7, New York has roughly a one-in-five chance of making the postseason, according to PFN’s Playoff Predictor. The Jets’ Week 11 matchup against the fellow AFC Wild Card hopeful Indianapolis Colts will be a must-win for Rodgers’ club.
