’How Do the Chiefs Keep Doing This? – NFL Fans in Disbelief As Blocked Field Goal Extends Kansas City’s Winning Streak

    Published on

The NFL fans were stunned after the Chiefs extended their winning streak after blocking a game-winning field goal attempt vs. Broncos.

The Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Denver Broncos 16-14 in Week 10 to improve to 9-0 on the season. The defending Super Bowl champions are now on a 15-game winning streak, with their last loss coming against the Las Vegas Raiders last Christmas.

The Chiefs defense blocked a 35-yard game-winning field goal attempt from Broncos kicker Wil Lutz to seal the win. Leo Chenal was credited with the game-winning block.

Fans React to Chiefs’ Thrilling Win vs. Broncos

Kansas City has played close games throughout the season, but it did look like their luck has finally run out, and the Broncos will hand them their first loss of the year. The fans on social media were stunned after the Chiefs extended their winning streak via a blocked field goal.

Here’s how fans reacted to it:

“How do the Chiefs keep doing this?” exclaimed one fan.

“We’re cursed to watch this team win forever,” added another.

“Give them the Lombardi already, they clearly doing some voodoo” claimed another.

Heading into the Week 9 game against the Chiefs, Lutz had converted 18/19 of his field goal attempts this season. He missed two attempts in the 16-14 loss to Kansas City, and it’s pretty normal for fans to believe that the defending Super Bowl champions got lucky again.

As per his lofty standards, Patrick Mahomes did not have a good game. He finished with a C grade (76.7) in Pro Football Network’s proprietary QB ranking system.

On the other hand, the Broncos’ rookie quarterback Bo Nix exceeded expectations and did everything right to get a win against the two-time NFL MVP in their first meeting.

Nix completed 73.3% of his throws against the Chiefs for 215 yards and two touchdowns without any turnovers. He did his job of protecting the ball and milking the clock on the game’s final drive, but unfortunately, Kansas City’s special teams came through in the biggest moment to block Lutz’s field goal attempt.

With this loss to the Chiefs, Denver is now 5-5 on the season. Before their bye in Week 14, the team has games against the Falcons, Raiders, and Browns. According to PFN’s playoff predictor, the Broncos still have a 63.76% chance to make the playoffs, while the Chiefs are all but guaranteed at 99.97%.

Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs Will Face the Bills in Week 11

With the different types of ways that Mahomes and the Chiefs have won games this season, it wouldn’t surprise anyone if they go undefeated. They have already played the tougher half of their schedule, and the team will only get better in the coming weeks with key players getting healthier.

However, they will play the Bills in Buffalo next week. This game is by far their toughest left on the schedule. Josh Allen and Co. defeated the Indianapolis Colts 30-20 in Week 10 to improve 8-2 on the season.

If Mahomes leads his team to a win against the Bills next week, it will be realistic to say that no team can beat them this year. The Chiefs quarterback is undefeated against the Bills in three playoff meetings; however, he is only 1-3 against them in the regular season, with his last win coming in 2020.

In those four games, Mahomes has thrown for 1,106 yards, 7 touchdowns, and five interceptions, completing 63.8% of his throws with a passer rating of 85.1. Both Mahomes and Allen are MVP candidates this season, and the winner of the Week 11 game will join Lamar Jackson in a two-horse race to win the award.
