The Kansas City Chiefs are nearly halfway to history. No team has ever gone 20-0, but no team before this one has had the Chiefs’ combination of talent and luck.
The Chiefs’ Week 10 Houdini act, a 16-14 win over the Denver Broncos on a blocked field goal attempt, extended the two-time defending champs’ winning streak to 15 games (including the postseason) and preserved their status as the league’s last undefeated team in 2024.
Unbeaten NFL Teams and Their Future Outlook
Kansas City Chiefs
The Chiefs are 9-0 for the third time in franchise history (2013 and 2003). Kansas City has never started a season 10-0.
If the Chiefs get that 10th win this year, they will have earned it.
The Chiefs visit the 8-2 Buffalo Bills next week in the latest chapter of the NFL‘s best rivalry. The teams have split their last six meetings dating back to the 2020 playoffs.
The game is in western New York, but you’d be foolish to bet against the Chiefs anywhere or anytime this year. They simply refuse to lose. Seven of their nine wins this year have been by one score, including their latest when it appeared as though all of their magic was finally used up.
It took a blocked 35-yard Wil Lutz field goal attempt by Leo Chenal on the last play of regulation to keep the Chiefs’ perfect start to the season intact. It also capped a spirited home comeback in a game that Kansas City trailed by 11 points late in the first half.

The win improved the Chiefs’ No. 1 seed projection from 67.8% to 84%, according to PFN’s Playoff Predictor.
The Chiefs’ latest heroics came a week after they beat the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on a two-yard walk-off touchdown by Kareem Hunt in overtime.
Certainly, it’s reasonable to believe that the Chiefs’ charmed run is unsustainable. Their point differential (58) isn’t even one of the two best in the AFC entering Week 11.
The Chiefs are winning games even though they’re getting mediocre performances from their offense. Sunday’s performance was their second-worst of the season per PFN’s advanced metrics, earning a C- grade and a 71.5 OFF+ rating.
Patrick Mahomes in particular has taken a step back this year. He’s thrown nine interceptions to just 12 touchdowns. However, the defense has carried the day for Kansas City. Steve Spagnuolo’s unit has allowed more than 20 points just twice in the Chiefs’ first nine games.
Certainly, the odds are against the Chiefs running the table and joining the 1972 Miami Dolphins as the only perfect teams in league history.
But as of Sunday, they were favorites in all eight of their remaining regular season games, and if their winning streak carries over into the playoffs, the Chiefs will be nearly impossible to beat. They’ve won 11 of their last 13 postseason games at Arrowhead Stadium.
