‘Travis Hunter Here We Come,’ ‘Trey Lance Time’ — Cowboys Fans Give Up on Season After Devastating Dak Prescott Injury News

    Published on

The Dallas Cowboys' fans have given up on the season and are looking forward to the 2025 NFL Draft after the latest update on Dak Prescott's injury.

Dak Prescott suffered a hamstring injury in Week 9’s loss to the Atlanta Falcons. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Dallas Cowboys quarterback has a partially torn hamstring and plans to have a season-ending surgery.

The Cowboys have struggled this season and are 3-5 heading into Week 10. With Prescott also hurt, many of their fans have given up on the season and are looking forward to next year.

Cowboys Fans React to Dak Prescott’s Injury Update

The Cowboys fans on social media are preparing for the team to tank for star prospects like Travis Hunter and Ashton Jeanty. Some of them also want the team to give an opportunity to Trey Lance as their season is basically over. Here’s how they reacted to Prescott’s injury news:

“TRAVIS HUNTER WELCOME TO THE COWBOYS,” wrote one fan.

“Just see what Trey Lance can do,” added another fan.

“WE ARE TANKING OMG #1 PICK HERE I COME,” said one fan.

“Jerry Jones got fleeced,” added another fan as Prescott suffered a serious injury in his first season after signing a four-year, $240 million contract extension.

Fortunately for the Cowboys quarterback, he was able to sign a long-term extension before the start of the season. This injury could have cost him millions as he was set to become a free agent after the end of this campaign.

Dallas should definitely give Lance some opportunities, as they already know what they have in Cooper Rush. The former San Francisco 49ers quarterback has a high ceiling, and if he plays well, the team can trade him for a better package than what they gave up to acquire him, if they were to re-sign or extend him.

Lance, the third overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, has only started four games since getting drafted. So far, he has not been given a fair shot to prove his talent. The North Dakota State product will be a free agent after this season, and he can raise his value around the league if the Cowboys decide to roll with him in some of their remaining games.

Cowboys owner Jones is well known for keeping his team in the spotlight. After Prescott’s injury, the only way people would tune into their games is if Lance starts for them. Hopefully, the fans will get their wish fulfilled.

Prescott’s Injury Is a Blessing in Disguise for the Cowboys

It can be said that even if Prescott had not been hurt the Cowboys would have missed the playoffs. Dallas does not have a good team this year and desperately needs a new head coach to contend.

With their starting quarterback out for the season, the Cowboys will likely end up with a top-10 draft pick in next year’s NFL Draft. It will allow them to address some of their roster concerns.

Dallas needs a new running back, and Jeanty will likely be available around their pick. Drafting a running back early in the first round is always a risk, but the Boise State star is a generational talent who will immediately make an impact on the Cowboys.

However, everything will depend on who the team’s head coach will be next season. Until that is confirmed, it’s hard to predict what the Cowboys will do in free agency and the draft, but Prescott’s injury has certainly given them a better chance to improve their roster via the draft.
