Travis Hunter has wowed everyone in the football world, whether it be fans, analysts, or coaches. Whenever the topic of the 2025 NFL Draft comes up, Hunter is one of the first names to pop out. Aboard the Hunter hype wagon is former Indianapolis Colts HC Chuck Pagano, who had nothing but compliments for Colorado’s two-way sensation.
Travis Hunter Impresses Former Colts HC Chuck Pagano
The 21-year-old has undergone an incredible transformation under Colorado HC Deion Sanders. Hunter is keeping up with media appearances owing to Colorado’s bye week in Week 10, joining ESPN’s “College GameDay” crew as a guest analyst during their stop in Happy Valley for the Penn State-Ohio State game last weekend.
His feature on the set didn’t go unnoticed by Pagano, who later discussed the two-way player’s skill set on “The Pat McAfee Show.”
“Watching Travis Hunter on ‘GameDay’ with you guys the other day, he’s for real, right?” Pagano said, showing admiration for Hunter’s work ethic and relentless focus.
“He don’t go out, he don’t drink, he don’t smoke. All he does is ball. Study,” Pagano continued, impressed by the young star’s dedication. “Playing both ways and doing what he’s doing on the football field, that’s incredible.”
Pagano went on to commend Colorado’s defensive improvement under Coach Prime, pointing their rise from a dismal 124th in total defense last season to a much more competitive 52nd.
Travis Hunter Being Heavily Linked to New England Patriots
Who wouldn’t like an athlete possessing a skill set like Hunter’s on their team? Top NFL franchises are on their toes to somehow accrue the services of Colorado’s electrifying two-way star. One team that has been predicted heavily to land Hunter in the 2025 NFL Draft is the New England Patriots.
Hunter has posted impressive numbers for Coach Prime and his team this 2024 college football season. As a receiver, he has combined 60 receptions for 757 yards and eight touchdowns with 21 tackles, seven pass breakups, and two interceptions on defense. It’s no wonder NFL scouts have their eyes set on him.
Currently holding the No. 1 pick, the Patriots have some major roster holes to fill. At 2-7, they need impact players on both offense and defense, and Hunter’s versatility makes him an ideal fit. Adding him to their ranks as a dynamic receiver would give the Pats’ offense much-needed firepower. At the same time, his skills as a cornerback could bolster the defense alongside 2023 pick Christian Gonzalez.
However, the Patriots may consider trading down to accumulate more picks. Their roster desperately needs top talent, and stocking up on draft selections could be the best long-term play for New England.
Regardless, Hunter remains a top prospect who could immediately impact wherever he lands.
