After Week 9, the Kansas City Chiefs remain the NFL‘s only undefeated team in their pursuit of a Super Bowl three-peat. They’re not just winning on the field but also thinking about the games to come with a string of heavy midseason acquisitions.
To that end, the Chiefs have been actively reshaping their roster to address offensive and defensive needs, which has led to some heated opinions across the league.
Ryan Clark Believes Chiefs Are Unstoppable
Pittsburgh Steelers Super Bowl champ Ryan Clark expressed his frustration on X. Clark believes that NFL teams are unknowingly trading key players to Kansas City and strengthening its roster further.
Clark already believes the Chiefs are unstoppable, and with new additions and injured players like Isiah Pacheco waiting to return, Kansas City will be even tougher to defeat.
“GMs should get together and ban other teams from trading players to the Chiefs. Y’all tripping letting them get D Hop… Kelce is cooking now too? Wait until angry running azz Pacheco gets back! Lord!” Clark wrote, pointing to Kansas City’s recent acquisition of star wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins as a prime example.

Clark’s comment comes as the Chiefs recently traded for edge rusher Joshua Uche from the New England Patriots to reinforce their defense.
All in all, head coach Andy Reid’s team has made five pickups since the preseason. This includes reunions with wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster and running backs Samaje Perine and Kareem Hunt, who returned after Pacheco’s injury. Pacheco is expected to make a late-November comeback, which will only strengthen the Chiefs’ offensive arsenal.
Chiefs 2024 Mid-Season Acquisitions and Significance
Kansas City has been proactive in making several midseason acquisitions, aiming for a well-rounded roster. Here’s a closer look at the key players they’ve added and what they’re bringing to the table.
On offense, Kansas City welcomed back Smith-Schuster, who rejoined the team after being released by the New England Patriots. He’s already recorded 147 yards on nine receptions this season, with 130 of those yards coming in an impressive Week 5 performance against the New Orleans Saints.
Perine, formerly of the Denver Broncos, has also made his presence felt after landing in Kansas City. He plies his services as a reliable third-down RB with 45 rushing yards, a touchdown, and 104 receiving yards on nine catches.
Hunt, the 29-year-old Ohio native, rejoined the Chiefs to fill in for the injured Pacheco. Since his return, Hunt has contributed 308 rushing yards and four touchdowns, helping Kansas City’s ground game further.
The best of the bunch, though, for Kansas City was Hopkins, who they traded for in a deal with the Tennessee Titans.

On the defensive front, Uche bolsters the Chiefs’ pass rush, enhancing an already strong defense that ranks fifth in fewest yards and points allowed. Uche, who has logged two sacks and 13 total tackles this season, can be a vital cog in strengthening the Chiefs’ defense.
These midseason moves signal Kansas City’s commitment to another Super Bowl pursuit after three wins in the last five years and two consecutive wins.
