Colorado’s two-way star Travis Hunter is among the most talked about players in the 2024 college football season.
During the Colorado Buffaloes’ last matchup against Cincinnati, Hunter put up some amazing numbers on the board with nine catches for 153 yards, two touchdowns, and two tackles (a solo effort and four pass breakups).
Owing to his thrilling performances week after week, Hunter is one of the top candidates to win the 2024 Heisman Trophy and is widely expected to be a top-five pick during the 2025 NFL Draft.
Urban Meyer, a three-time national champion with Florida and Ohio State, made a case for Hunter to take home the prestigious honor this year during a conversation with Mark Ingram II and Rob Stone on the “The Triple Option” podcast.
“You know, those guys [Heisman contenders] are really good. I think he’s just a little bit better than all of them. Matter of fact, he’s better,” Meyer said. “And this Travis Hunter, he’s the best player in the game right now. I would draft him with the first pick. And this is after now I’ve researched what kind of person he is too.
“He’s a dog. … He studies the game. There’s only one way you can be that great on both sides of the ball … plus he takes care of himself. He’s not doing the silly college stuff that a lot of guys do. So I just got so much respect for that cat.
“You know … 117 plays. And I pointed it out on [“Big Noon Kickoff’] one time, you know the receiver sometimes backside, or they don’t go after you downfield? He’s trying to take your hat off downfield now as a blocker, so he’s the best player in the game.”
The legendary urban meyers says Travis is the best playing in college football and has his vote for heisman🔥🫡

Travis Hunter Reveals His Potential Jersey Number in the NFL
The Colorado star currently wears the No. 12 jersey; however, he’s well versed in the fact that he might have to let it go once he moves on to the league.
While his former teammate Xavier Weaver argued that Hunter can get No. 12 irrespective of the fact that it might already be on someone’s back, the Colorado star made it clear that he wouldn’t want to buy a number or fall into the pressure of wearing the same number as Tom Brady if he ends up going to the New England Patriots.
“I am not buying a number again; I’m telling you, I’m about to rock No. 40, though, like, nobody wants to give me No. 12? They want me to pay for it, bro? Say goodbye,” Hunter said.
The Colorado Buffaloes have an open week on their hands in Week 10 before they go head-to-head against Texas Tech in Week 11.
