Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Justin Fields is inactive for the “Monday Night Football” game against the New York Giants.
As per reports, Fields is dealing with a hamstring issue and will be the emergency third quarterback for tonight’s game. The 25-year-old quarterback did not miss any practice this past week and was only added to the injury report on Sunday.
Fans on social media did not buy Fields’ injury, and they think something else is going on behind the scenes.
Fans React to Justin Fields Being Inactive Against Giants
Fields went 4-2 as the Steelers’ starting quarterback. He played well in those games but was replaced by Russell Wilson, who missed the start of the season due to a calf injury.
Fans criticized the Steelers after it was revealed that Fields would be inactive for the game against the Giants. Some even speculated that the AFC North franchise might be looking to trade him.
That is absolutely baffling. This dude won 4 games and is just thrown out completely for a washed russ

“Why trade for the guy and waste his time?” said one fan.
“Don’t be fooled by one game from Russ Steelers fans. You will likely need and see Justin Fields in a few weeks. Signed by a Bronco fan,” wrote another fan.
I need someone to explain to me what Justin Fields did to get banished to the shadow realm.

The Steelers signed Wilson to a one-year deal after the veteran quarterback was released by the Denver Broncos. Later the team acquired Fields from the Chicago Bears in exchange for a 2025 sixth-round pick, and it raised some eyebrows.
Pittsburgh did not pick up Fields’ fifth-year option, and there is a possibility he could get traded before the Nov. 5 trade deadline.
Should the Steelers Trade Fields?
It is too early to say that Pittsburgh should trade away Fields. Wilson did play well in his first appearance for the Steelers last week, but a much bigger sample size is required to make such a decision.
Moreover, it doesn’t seem there are teams around the league that would be open to trading for Fields. Therefore, the Steelers should wait, and if they do want to part ways with Fields, they could trade him after the season.

However, for that to be possible, the franchise would have to either offer the Ohio State product a new contract or use the franchise tag on him. It is a complicated situation, but given how good the Steelers have looked so far, they should not take a risk and solely rely on a 35-year-old quarterback.
If Wilson somehow gets hurt again, Fields could immediately step in and the team will still be a contender. But, if they do trade away the former Bears quarterback, the Steelers will be left with Kyle Allen as their quarterback, which is not an ideal scenario.
In six games this season, Fields has thrown for 1,106 yards, five touchdowns, and an interception, completing 66.3% of his throws with a passer rating of 93.9. He also rushed for 231 yards and five touchdowns on 55 carries.
