Raiders’ Minority Owner Makes Stance Clear on Potentially Trading Maxx Crosby Amid Lions Rumors

Would the Las Vegas Raiders create another gap after the Davante Adams trade by moving Maxx Crosby? Not according to Richard Seymour.

The Las Vegas Raiders are in hot soup for their slow 2-5 start, and rumors have started swirling about the potential trade of star defensive end Maxx Crosby to the Detroit Lions. The speculations touched new heights as Davante Adams left the team for the New York Jets. Amidst the chatter, Hall of Famer and Raiders minority owner Richard Seymour clarified why he thinks Crosby’s exit remains a far-fetched idea.

Richard Seymour Comments on Maxx Crosby Trade Rumors

In a recent conversation with ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Seymour expressed strong doubts about Crosby being moved. The former defensive end acknowledged why a team like the Lions, who recently lost defensive standout Aidan Hutchinson to injury, would be eager to pursue Crosby.

“If I’m the Lions, I want to come and get Maxx Crosby too,” Seymour said, praising Crosby’s value in the league.

However, he referred to the 27-year-old defensive end as the team’s “heartbeat” and does not believe Raiders owner Mark Davis would entertain offers for him, especially after Las Vegas has already dealt with Davante Adams’ departure.

“I don’t see him making that decision to trade away Maxx Crosby. He’s a tremendous player, and he bleeds silver and black,” Seymour stated.

The Raiders already have a gap to fill, and they wouldn’t create another by trading Crosby, who already boasts 23 total tackles, 10 for loss, 11 quarterback hits, and 6.5 sacks.

Maxx Crosby Shuts Down Trade Rumors After Raiders Owner Mark Davis’ Comments

Raiders owner Mark Davis quickly addressed the rumors, firmly denying any credible source behind the speculation of Crosby’s trade. In a statement reported by Vic Tafur and Tashan Reed of The Athletic, Davis, when asked directly about Crosby’s future with the Raiders, reiterated that trading the star defensive end is not on the table.

“It’s unfortunate today, but there’s so much outside chatter that is not true… It’s not coming from any [legitimate] sources. It’s just not happening.”

To double down, star defensive player Maxx Crosby went on record to shut down any talk of leaving the Raiders on his podcast, “The Rush.” He explained that rumors have linked him to the Lions before, but he remains committed to the Raiders.

“I’ll say it loud and f—ing clear — I want to be a Raider,” Crosby stated.

Crosby’s loyalty to the silver and black is undeniable. Although he lacks control over the trade, Davis’ dismissal of the rumors makes the defensive star’s trade before the November 5 deadline highly unlikely.
