Which Kickers Should You Stream in Week 8?

    Chase McLaughlin

The Atlanta Falcons allow opponents to make a field goal on 28% of their defensive drives, easily the highest rate in the league. The next highest are the New Orleans Saints at 23%.

Entering his Monday night game in Week 7, Chase McLaughlin was a perfect 11-for-11 on field goal attempts this season. That included 5-for-5 from 50 or more yards, proving that McLaughlin’s accuracy is not a byproduct of limited range.

McLaughlin is rostered in just over half of Yahoo fantasy leagues, so it’s possible that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers kicker is still available. If so, he should absolutely be added given the Bucs’ strong offense and favorable matchup against Atlanta.

    Jake Bates

Fresh off his game-winner to hand the Minnesota Vikings their first loss, Jake Bates is staring at a spot where he could get multiple field goal attempts. The Tennessee Titans are an above-average red-zone defense, ranking 11th in red-zone touchdown rate (50%).

In addition, the Titans are the fourth-best run defense by yards per carry allowed (3.9). That could help them control Detroit’s powerful rushing attack, which ranks fourth in success rate and tied for second in rushing touchdowns. As well as Jared Goff has been playing, the Detroit Lions are more likely to settle for field goals if they’re more one-dimensional than usual.

Overall, opponents kick a field goal on 20% of their drives against the Titans, the sixth-highest rate. Bates is only rostered in 34% of Yahoo leagues, so there’s a solid chance you can grab him off of waivers this week.

    Austin Seibert

The Washington Commanders attempt a field goal on 34% of their drives, the highest rate in the league. Austin Seibert has taken full advantage of those opportunities, converting 19 of his 20 field goal attempts (95%).

Still, Seibert is only rostered in 46% of Yahoo fantasy leagues. Even with Marcus Mariota potentially starting for Jayden Daniels, Washington’s rushing efficiency should lead to enough scoring opportunities to make him a viable option.

Snap him up before his weekly multi-field goal attempt games become obvious to the rest of your league’s managers.

    Wil Lutz

The Denver Broncos’ kicker is coming off a 4-for-4 showing on field goals in his return to New Orleans. Wil Lutz has had the best season of his career to date, going 17-for-18 (94.4%) on field goals, the best rate of his career.

Denver’s kicker is usually a desirable target in leagues that award more points for longer field goals, as the altitude provides a natural advantage. Lutz is only 2-for-3 on field goals of 50+ yards this year, but his overall accuracy should still make him a trusted option.

This week the Broncos will play the hapless Carolina Panthers, who are hemorrhaging 34.7 points per game. Coupled with Denver’s 21st-ranked red-zone offense, that could spell plenty of field goal opportunities again this week for Lutz.

    Cameron Dicker

The Los Angeles Chargers kicker entered Monday night 10-for-11 (91%) on field goals. Los Angeles may not be as prolific an offense compared to past seasons, but it still ranks 13th in percent of drives ending in a field goal attempt entering their Week 7 Monday night game.

Looking ahead, Cameron Dicker and the Chargers get a matchup against the woeful Saints defense next week. This plays right into L.A.’s offensive preference: the Saints have allowed 502 rush yards the last two weeks, while the Chargers run at the third-highest rate.

This should lead to plenty of scoring opportunities for the Chargers offense, boosting Dicker’s opportunities. The Saints allow 23% of drives to end in a field goal, the second-highest rate behind the Falcons, so Dicker is a solid start in this spot.
