Bill Belichick Rips Jets Owner Woody Johnson

Peyton Manning asked Belichick about the Jets and the legendary head coach didn’t hold any punches when talking about the situation in New York.

“That’s kind of what it’s been like with the Jets,” Belichick said. “Barely won over 30% in the last 10 years. The owner, being the owner. Just ready, fire, aim.”

Aside from dominating the Jets as New England’s head coach for over two decades, Belichick has experience working in New York as the team’s assistant head coach and defensive coordinator.

Belichick continued to joke about his tenure with the Jets after Manning asked about his experience in New York.

“My career as the coach of the Jets was unblemished,” Belichick mockingly said.

What is Bill Belichick Doing While Not Coaching?

Despite stepping away from coaching in the NFL in 2024, Belichick remains bust with several media obligations. Belichick is somehow balancing three different media jobs during his first year away from the Patriots.

Belichick has agreed to make multiple appearances on two different ESPN shows, including “The Pat McAfee Show” and “The Manningcast” with Peyton Manning and Eli Manning.

The legendary former head coach is also a member of the “Inside the NFL” show, as he joins former Pro Bowl safety Ryan Clark, former Pro Bowl wide receiver Chad Johnson and former defensive end Chris Long.

While Belichick is seemingly enjoying his time away from coaching, many expect him to return as an NFL head coach in 2025.

Potential Landing Spots for Bill Belichick

    New York Giants

Belichick spent 12 seasons with the Giants between 1979-1990. Belichick held several roles during his time in New York, as he was the team’s special teams coordinator, defensive assistant, linebackers coach, and defensive coordinator.

While the duo of Brian Daboll and Joe Schoen has failed to find much success in New York, the Giants could opt to start from scratch in 2025. The allure of adding a legendary head coach with ties to the organization could be too enticing for the Giants to pass up on.

    Las Vegas Raiders

Former New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady is expected to be approved as part owner of the Las Vegas Raiders in 2024. Therefore, the Raiders could look to move on from Antonio Pierce and replace him with Brady’s former head coach in 2025.

Since arriving in Las Vegas, the Raiders have failed to find much success on the football field. Belichick would bring much-needed leadership and respectability to a franchise that has struggled to stay relevant for the right reasons in recent years.

    Philadelphia Eagles

Eagles general manager Howie Roseman reportedly had a conversation with Belichick in the offseason, according to ESPN. While the talk apparently didn’t involve Belichick potentially becoming the head coach in Philadelphia, the phone call is still noteworthy.

Given the struggles and skepticism surrounding Nick Sirianni, it certainly feels like the Eagles could move in a different direction at head coach in 2025. Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie has long admired Belichick and he could finally hire him as Philadelphia’s head coach during the upcoming offseason.
