The Dallas Cowboys suffered an embarrassing loss at home against the Detroit Lions in Week 6. Now, a former Cowboys wide receiver has earmarked defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer as the one responsible for this collapse.
The Cowboys did take the lead early in the first quarter but, obviously, couldn’t hold on to it as the defense faltered onwards. America’s Team lost 47-9, and former three-time Pro Bowl player Dez Bryant holds DC Zimmer responsible for letting cornerback Trevon Diggs get in trouble.
Dez Bryant Attacks Cowboys DC Mike Zimmer for Tactical Errors in Loss Against Lions
Throughout the season, the Cowboys have been inconsistent. However, in their Week 6 clash against the Lions, the offense and defense were consistently dominated. throughout the season, however, in their Week 6 clash, their offense and defense were consistent.
Clearly, several mistakes were made, but Bryant highlighted one, in particular — noting Diggs not being covered by safety Malik Hooker.
“7 had no safety support WTF 28 was looking at?” Bryant wrote during the game on X (previously Twitter).

However, as one fan called out Diggs as being overrated, the first-round pick in the 2010 NFL Draft came to Diggs’ defense. In the process, Bryant subsided on Zimmer’s tactical competence.
“STFU CAP. ZIM got him in some bulls**t,” tweeted Bryant.

The wide receiver did not stop there and questioned the hiring of Zimmer earlier this year. The 35-year-old stated that the Cowboys should have retained their former defensive coordinator, Dan Quinn.
“We shouldn’t have never let Dan Quinn go! Should have gave him what he want,” tweeted Bryant.

The Cowboys have allowed a whopping 119 points in their three home games this season.
Jerry Jones Opens Up on Coaching Changes After Loss
Zimmer is not the only one who could find himself on the chopping block. After this loss, head coach Mike McCarthy could also find himself in trouble.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, who is also the team’s president and general manager, spoke to the media after this horrific result.
“Very concerning” and “very humbling” were the responses to the loss from Jones. “This was a shocker,” added the 82-year-old billionaire. The media asked about the possible coaching changes, especially in regard to McCarthy. “I’m not considering that,” replied Jones.
Dallas will enjoy a much-needed bye week in Week 7. This gives McCarthy, Zimmer, and the rest of the Cowboys’ coaching staff time to better their game when Dallas takes on the San Francisco 49ers in Week 8 on Oct. 27.
