Entering this season, Georgia Bulldogs quarterback Carson Beck was widely regarded as the top QB in the 2025 NFL Draft and a potential No. 1 overall pick. But after struggling throughout the 2024 campaign — throwing for 3,429 yards, 28 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions on a 65.1% completion percentage — where will Beck go in the draft?
Where Did Carson Beck Land in Our Most Recent NFL Mock Draft?
Beck went No. 98 overall to the Miami Dolphins in Pro Football Network’s most recent seven-round 2025 NFL Draft mock from Dalton Miller.
Here’s what Miller had to say about the late-third-round projection: “Carson Beck, at his best, is good enough to lead a Dolphins attack at a very high level. His ability to operate within structure and attack middle-of-field windows is what made him a 1.01 candidate during summer scouting.
“However, he’s proven this season that his floor is a leaking basement, which is why he could slip all the way into Day 3 of the NFL Draft if he can’t string together strong performances to end his collegiate career.”
Who Does Beck Play Like? Latest NFL Player Comparisons
Beck isn’t a major athletic outlier or a tremendous arm talent, but he does have the capability to make NFL throws. This reminds us of NFL players like Matt Ryan and Jared Goff, two quarterbacks who have had plenty of ups and downs in their careers but have generally thrived in a good situation.
This makes a lot of sense for Beck, who has done his best work when surrounded by Georgia stars like Ladd McConkey and Brock Bowers. This may not look like the most exciting pair of comparisons, but other than a couple of rough seasons for Goff, neither quarterback has ever looked like anything less than a solid starter and both have competed for MVP at their best — Ryan even won one in 2016.
Beck’s Best Landing Spots in the NFL
Let’s check out some of the teams that might make sense as a landing spot for Beck.
Cleveland Browns
This is one of the best possible landing places for a quarterback prospect in the 2025 NFL Draft. Deshaun Watson was dreadful this season and then suffered a ruptured Achilles, while Jameis Winston is an unrestricted free agent this offseason.
Cleveland needs to find its quarterback of the future, and the Browns have plenty of solid pieces in place to help Beck get off to a good start. Head coach Kevin Stefanski is one of the league’s best offensive minds, and the Browns still roster some good offensive line talent. It’s not totally clear which skill players will still be around next year, but the Cleveland Browns should be able to compete immediately if Beck plays up to his ability.
Las Vegas Raiders
After rolling out Gardner Minshew II and Aidan O’Connell this season, Las Vegas clearly needs to draft a quarterback this offseason.
The bigger question is whether head coach Antonio Pierce will remain in charge or if the rookie quarterback in Vegas will be playing for a new head coach.
If Beck joins the Las Vegas Raiders, he would get to reunite with Bowers, which could be a lot of fun. Also, he would likely get to start from Day 1, which could be good for his development.
New York Giants
After releasing Daniel Jones, the New York Giants are in the market for a new quarterback. New York met with the QBs in the 2024 NFL Draft and reportedly tried to trade up to select one, but they weren’t able to complete a deal and instead selected Malik Nabers at No. 6 overall.
The Giants may fire head coach Brian Daboll, but this landing spot would be more attractive for Beck if Daboll is still in charge, as he has a solid track record with young quarterbacks.
Either way, the Giants will have Nabers in town for the foreseeable future, plus a dynamic young running back in Tyrone Tracy Jr., providing Beck (or whomever New York acquires) with some electrifying weapons.
Beck’s Scouting Report
Here’s what PFN’s NFL Draft Analyst Ian Cummings wrote in his draft profile for Beck.
“Beck isn’t the same creative force that other top prospects have been in years past, but he compensates with a near-elite combination of accuracy and processing ability.
“With his anticipation and precision, Beck can capitalize on leverage mismatches over the middle and up the seam. He can also drive throws with impressive velocity and touch. On the other end of the spectrum, he’s a pinpoint-accurate short-game passer with efficient mechanics and a crisp, clean release.
“Overall, with his accuracy, pre-snap and post-snap processing, arm talent, competitive toughness, versatility from shotgun and under center, and his ability to conduct the offense and keep plays on schedule, Beck has the potential to be a quality starting QB for an NFL offense.
“Without elite athleticism and creation capacity, Beck might not completely scheme diverse or an elevating force, but he can be the level of QB who flourishes and produces at a high clip in the right system.”
