The San Francisco 49ers will face the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 7. Here’s the latest fantasy football news and advice to help you with your lineups this week and moving forward, especially regarding WR Deebo Samuel.
Is Deebo Samuel Playing in Week 7?
Deebo Samuel was limited on Wednesday and Thursday while dealing with a wrist injury. On both days, he wore a blue non-contact jersey during the open portion of today’s practice.
Fortunately, Deebo isn’t in any danger of missing Sunday’s Super Bowl rematch against the Chiefs. He was formally removed from the 49ers’ injury report on Friday and will suit up vs. Kansas City.
Samuel played 82% of San Francisco’s offensive snaps in Week 6, catching three passes for 102 yards and a touchdown. He finished as fantasy’s WR10, his best result since returning from a calf injury in Week 4.

Should You Start or Sit Deebo Samuel in Week 7?

Samuel’s 76-yard catch-and-run was among the flashy highlights last Thursday night. Plus, he was handed the ball four times, his most since the season-opening win against the Jets. In theory, the ability to rip off big plays and gain volume on the ground should make Samuel a bona fide star — and yet, I’m worried.
Weeks 4-6, targets per route:
- Jauan Jennings: 23.8%
- George Kittle: 22.4%
- Brandon Aiyuk: 21.9%
- Samuel: 15.1%
That table doesn’t even include some nice development for Jordan Mason (Weeks 4-6: 11.5%, up from 4.5% through Week 3), something that will need to be factored in as Christian McCaffrey nears his season debut.
Samuel’s name and YAC skills make him a starter in all formats this week and in the short term, but this is the type of player that I often try to move after a productive outing. Last week was certainly that.

Samuel is projected to score 14.4 fantasy points in PPR formats. This includes 3.8 receptions for 58.1 yards and 0.3 touchdowns.
