Is Nick Chubb Playing in Week 7?

Reports had suggested Nick Chubb was targeting a Week 7 return, and the Browns running back confirmed that timeline himself in a Players’ Tribune essay. He’s been on the PUP list since suffering a gruesome knee injury last September but will make his season debut against the Bengals on Sunday.

While Chubb is officially listed as questionable, Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski confirmed that the veteran RB will suit up in Week 7.

Cincinnati has been one of the most forgiving matchups for running backs this year; they’ve allowed 146 rushing yards per game, fifth-most in the NFL.

However, it’s hard to imagine Stefanski giving Chubb a full workload in his first game in over a calendar year. Yes, Chubb is a physical marvel who is the league’s best RB at full health. But fantasy managers can expect the Browns to exude caution with Chubb, especially in what’s become a lost season.

We’ll continue to monitor the Browns’ injury report. You can also visit and bookmark our NFL Injury Tracker and Fantasy News Tracker for the latest updates.

Should You Start or Sit Nick Chubb in Week 7?

Chubb is expected to take the field on Sunday, 398 days since the last time we had the pleasure of seeing him on the field. It’s a plus matchup (the Bengals have allowed over 21 fantasy points to an RB three times this season: Tyrone Tracy Jr. last week and both Rhamondre Stevenson and Chuba Hubbard before that), and Jerome Ford is banged up, but after the Amari Cooper trade on Tuesday, it’s clear that this franchise isn’t too focused on 2024.

I have Chubb penciled in to lead this backfield in carries this week, but I’d be shocked if they gave him anything close to a full workload. I’m hopeful that our patience up to this point on Chubb is rewarded with late-season usage, but he’s certainly the type of back for whom I’ll wait to have proof of health instead of trying to get ahead of it.
