Darius Slayton broke out on Sunday when the New York Giants scored a 29-20 road upset over the Seattle Seahawks.
The veteran receiver racked up eight catches for 122 yards and one touchdown in his most productive game since the 2020 season. With that kind of performance, Slayton could be a popular target on the fantasy football waiver wire in Week 6.
But should you consider adding Slayton, who’s rostered in just 4.2% of ESPN leagues, to your team? Let’s dive into it.
Should Darius Slayton Be Added Off the Fantasy Waiver Wire in Week 6?
Slayton has long been a tempting fantasy asset, but most of the intrigue can traced back to his rookie season. In 2019, he topped 60 yards five times — including two 100-yard games — while catching eight touchdowns. He looked like a young receiver on the rise.
However, injuries and inconsistency have reduced Slayton to little more than a No. 3 receiver in the years since. And that remains the case this season.

Slayton is the clear No. 3 option on New York’s receiver depth chart behind Malik Nabers and Wan’Dale Robinson. It’s one thing to be a third receiver on a great offense, but Slayton is playing in an offense led by quarterback Daniel Jones. There just isn’t much upside.
Moreover, his big performance came on a day when Nabers sat out due to a concussion. This would be a different discussion if Nabers were dealing with a long-term injury, but that’s not the case.
Slayton also doesn’t carry much value in PPR leagues. He’s topped seven targets just four times since the start of the 2021 season, including Sunday’s 11-target showing.
Robinson, who’s seen eight or more targets in four out of five games this season, and Nabers, who totaled 45 targets in Weeks 2 through 4, are the real target hogs in New York’s offense. Slayton is a deep-play threat — and a mediocre one at that.
Keep Slayton on your radar in the event Nabers or Robinson suffer long-term injuries. But for now, you can leave him on the wire.
