CeeDee Lamb Regrets Sideline Blowup with Dak Prescott – ‘I Failed Myself’

CeeDee Lamb didn’t put his best foot forward last Sunday — and he knows it.

The superstar receiver played poorly in the Dallas Cowboys‘ Week 3 loss to the Baltimore Ravens, posting just 67 yards while losing a fumble and dropping a pass. However, it was a sideline spat with Dak Prescott that generated the most headlines and prompted an apology from Lamb.

    What Did CeeDee Lamb Do?

With Dallas trailing in the second half, FOX Sports cameras captured Lamb engaging in a heated sideline discussion with Prescott.

What Lamb said remains unclear, but lip readers believe he shouted, “Shut the f–k up, bro” as Prescott was walking away.

The Cowboys, who at one point trailed 28-6, mounted a spirited second-half comeback before suffering a 28-25 loss. But the second-half fight didn’t lead to good spirits in the locker room, with Lamb among players who declined to speak to reporters.

But with the Cowboys gearing up for a Thursday night clash against the New York Giants, Lamb fielded questions after Tuesday’s practice.

To his credit, Lamb took accountability for the sideline blowup.

The 25-year-old said he played a “big part” in the defeat and that his behavior didn’t “help the situation or the outcome of the game.”

“Just being a professional about this whole situation,” Lamb told reporters via ESPN’s Todd Archer. “Understanding it’s a long game. But as for me and my performance, I expect a lot out of myself, more than anyone could put on me. And, quite honestly, I failed myself.

“And obviously, I failed the team just as far as producing and being that game-breaker player for the team and, obviously, the guy that they can lean on.

“And, yeah, I kind of let the game get to my head a little bit. But in the same sense, I know what I can do. I know what I bring to the table, and I know what I can do on that field. So, with that being said, going forward, there shall be a difference.”

Lamb sat out training camp due to a contract dispute, but he didn’t blame Sunday’s performance on the missed time.

“Ain’t no excuse for that,” he said. “I played football my whole life. I know better.”

Are Lamb and Prescott on Good Terms?

Lamb was also asked about his relationship with Prescott, who, like Lamb, recently signed a long-term extension with the Cowboys.

“Our relationship, if anything, [has] gotten stronger,” Lamb said. “Don’t let what’s out there fool you. We’re brothers to the end. We know that we all we got, and I tip my hat off to him. I got the utmost respect for him, and I look at him as a brother.

“So, with that being said, everything is going to come out: the energy, the passion, the love, the fight. You going to make up in the end.”

Lamb was similarly moody during a blowout loss to the San Francisco 49ers last year. But he responded by posting seven 100-yard games over the final 11 contests.

“I plan on doing it again,” Lamb said.

Lamb will look to get back on track when the Cowboys and Giants kick off from MetLife Stadium at 8:15 p.m. ET on Thursday.
