Dallas Cowboys star quarterback Dak Prescott’s day ended early following an embarrassing outing against the New Orleans Saints. Here’s what led to the Cowboys throwing in the towel and begin their look ahead to Week 3.
With the Cowboys down 44-19 and seemingly nothing going right, the Cowboys opted to sit Prescott down and put Cooper Rush in to finish out the rest of the afternoon.
Prescott ends his day going 27-for-39 with 279 passing yards, one touchdown pass, two interceptions, and one fumble.
It was a struggle for Prescott for much of the afternoon, as the NFL’s new highest-paid quarterback found himself fighting from behind from the get-go.

Now, with the Cowboys falling to 1-1, the next time Prescott will take the field will be in Week 3, when he will look to get back on track against a good Baltimore Ravens team.
Sunday’s outing is the second consecutive week where the offense looked to be a bit off, with Prescott finishing as the 27th-ranked QB on Pro Football Network’s QB+ metric last week, and this week not looking much better.

Despite the early-season struggles, Prescott and the Cowboys’ offense will need to find a way to look their best against another tough defense in Week 3, and will look to avoid falling under .500 as they welcome the Ravens into town.
In order to do so, Dallas will look for star tight end Jake Ferguson to come back from the knee injury that kept him out of action today while looking for more help from complementary pieces.
With the likes of Brandin Cooks, Jalen Tolbert, and others being unable to make a true impact in Sunday’s outing, this offense is poised to continue to struggle unless something changes.
While much of the fanbase clamored for more weapons via free agency, Jerry Jones and Co. opted to lean on known commodities and the draft to find help. As it sits right now, it looks like it simply isn’t enough to look like real contenders in 2024.
