MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — Monday was a good day for the Miami Dolphins‘ medical staff.
The team’s err-on-the-side-of-caution approach throughout training camp and the preseason has paid off.
Miami Dolphins Injury Update
Miami should have every projected starter (with the debatable exception of Odell Beckham Jr., who is out for at least the season’s first four weeks) available for Sunday’s season opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars, with cornerback Jalen Ramsey as the lone remaining question mark.
Ramsey participated in pre-practice warmups but then went inside (presumably) for rehab work as practice began in earnest.
The newly minted team captain was the only Dolphins active roster player who didn’t participate in Monday’s practice. But Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel had said a few weeks back that the team expects him to play in Week 1.
The best Dolphins injury news Monday? Starting center Aaron Brewer practiced for the first time in nearly four weeks.
Brewer still had a contraption on his right hand, but Miami seems optimistic that his injured right hand will be healed enough by Sunday that he can handle snapping duties against the Jaguars.
“You have to let the player do it, but that’s the anticipation,” McDaniel said. “We’ll see how that progresses. And I feel great about our starting offensive line. I also feel great about the contingencies that we have in place should we have a different version of that this week.
“All things I’m confident about by the work orchestrated by the individual players and how that will play out during the course of the week. My crystal ball is broke, but we’ll take it one step at a time.”
If Brewer plays Sunday, expect Liam Eichenberg to shift back to right guard. Rob Jones has been the starting left guard all camp, and there’s no reason to believe that will change this week.
More good injury news: Wide receivers Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, running back Jaylen Wright, safety Jevon Holland, defensive tackle Calais Campbell, and linebacker Quinton Bell all practiced after suffering training camp/preseason injuries.
“I’m fine,” Hill said. “I just needed some days off. I’m healthy.”

Waddle was out of the red practice jersey and seems to be ready for the opener.
