PFN Scouting Podcast: Week 1 2025 NFL Draft Primer Covers Conner Weigman, Riley Leonard
The 2025 NFL Draft cycle is churning along, and the next checkpoint is among us: The 2024 college football season itself.
The Week 0 slate — headlined by Georgia Tech’s upset of Florida State — was the soft launch of the 2024 campaign. But now, Week 1 marks the full-fledged advance of the regular season, and with it comes the first true blue-blood matchups.
On the latest episode of the PFN Scouting Podcast, Derek Tate and I entered our season rhythm and discussed some of the best prospect tests and matchups in Week 1.
There’s one clash that stands out above the rest, and that’s the clash of Texas A&M and Notre Dame. This game will pit two early-round quarterback hopefuls against one another: Texas A&M’s Conner Weigman and Notre Dame’s Riley Leonard.
Weigman and Leonard’s duel stands alone at the top of the list, but there are other games to keep an eye on as well.
Graham Mertz and Cameron Ward will do battle in an intra-state fight. Carson Beck will go up against the talented Clemson defense, while Cade Klubnik looms on the other side.
Past the QB matchups, more action lingers as well. Stanford receiver Elic Ayomanor will face off against a talented secondary, and Colorado State’s Tory Horton will look to prove his mettle against a Texas secondary dotted with versatile defenders.
