Is Trevor Lawrence Playing Tonight? Latest Update on Jaguars QB’s Status

The final week of the preseason is here, and the Jacksonville Jaguars are on the road to face the Atlanta Falcons for their finale.

However, with the NFL’s regular season nearing, not every team is going to play their starters. Will Trevor Lawrence play against Atlanta?

Is Trevor Lawrence Playing vs. Falcons?

To start the preseason, Lawrence and a majority of the Jaguars’ starters played the first quarter against the Kansas City Chiefs. After a break against the Buccaneers, Lawrence and company will be back on the field against the Falcons, with the group set to play for roughly a half on Friday night.

In the preseason opener against the Chiefs, Lawrence was 3-of-4 for 42 yards and one touchdown. He did, however, take a sack on fourth-and-short.

Against the Buccaneers, Mac Jones handled the majority of the snaps. Lawrence did, however, participate in two joint practices with Tampa Bay.

“We’ve still got the same job to do. It doesn’t matter who’s out there,” said Trevor Lawrence following the final training camp practice of the season. “There’s a bunch of good players, whether they’re starters or not, and we’ve got to bring our best game on Friday.”

“We’re preparing the same way, and we’re going to be ready to go regardless of who’s on the field,” Lawrence added.

In addition to talking about just playing, Lawrence spoke about how it will be playing longer this time than he did against Kansas City.

“Against Kansas City, you just kind of get a little taste. You don’t really get to settle in and feel out the game,” said Lawrence. “Now, we’ll get to do that, so I think it’s really valuable.”

When Lawrence leaves this game, Jones will likely handle a majority of the second half. Through two games, Jones has passed for 308 yards, two touchdowns, and no interceptions.

EJ Perry will also get some reps, having signed with the team earlier this week after C.J. Beathard was ruled out for the week dealing with a groin injury.

The Jaguars matchup with the Falcons will kick off at 7 p.m. ET. After that, there will be a league-wide bye week. Then, the Jaguars will travel to Miami to face the Dolphins in Week 1.
