Las Vegas Raiders running back Alexander Mattison’s fantasy football outlook in 2024 has some positive potential, with him being second on a depth chart with many inexperienced running backs.
Let’s see if he can add some value to our fantasy team and be a good draft pick.
Alexander Mattison’s Fantasy Profile for the 2024 NFL Season
If you’re interested in the ZeroRB fantasy football strategy, Mattison could be an option at RB68. He’s going No. 255 overall after D’Onta Foreman and right before Dalvin Cook, who’s not even on a roster as of Aug. 16.
According to TruMedia, Mattison had 180 carries for 700 yards (3.9 yards per carry) and no touchdowns in 2023. He added 30 receptions on 44 targets for 192 yards and three touchdowns.
He now joins a Raiders squad that has Zamir White ahead of him. Since joining the NFL in 2022, White’s played in 31 games and has 121 lifetime carries for 521 yards and one touchdown. In 2023, he caught 15 passes for 98 yards.
Other running backs on the roster include Ameer Abdullah and rookie Dylan Laube.
In joining the Raiders, Mattison will have a chance to crack the production left behind by former Raiders running back Josh Jacobs. He had 233 carries for 805 yards and six touchdowns last year, and he also caught 37 passes for 296 yards.
The Raiders have a Week 10 bye week.
Is Mattison a Good Fantasy Pick?
There may actually be some value here. Mattison wasn’t efficient in 2023, but the running back depth in Vegas lacks experience.
White is likely the first to get a crack at being “the guy,” but he only averaged 4.3 yards per carry a season ago.
Laube is worth watching, though. A sixth-round pick out of New Hampshire, Laube won’t get many carries, but he’s an excellent pass catcher.

If White gets the carries and Laube gets the receptions, it’ll take an injury for Mattison to get any meaningful playing time.
Even if he does, Mattison will likely lose any pass-catching upside to Laube in that same situation.
White is going as the RB23, and Mattison is going very far behind him. But there are a lot of questions around this Raiders backfield that we’ll have to wait and see get answered.
Mattison will certainly be available on your waiver wires, but pass on him as a draft pick for now unless you’re in a deeper league.
