Dallas Cowboys 2025 7-Round Mock Draft: Damien Martinez Joins Dak Prescott In Backfield

In this 2025 NFL Mock Draft, the Dallas Cowboys reload around quarterback Dak Prescott, and find a capable replacement for Demarcus Lawrence.

Assuming the Dallas Cowboys find a way to keep Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb, this 2025 NFL Mock Draft explores how the Cowboys can use the coming class to reload and stay in playoff contention.

Who Could the Dallas Cowboys Draft in the 2025 NFL Draft?

Note: The draft order for the 2025 NFL Mock Draft was derived from my record and playoff predictions for the 2024 NFL regular season.

    13) Dallas Cowboys: Nic Scourton, EDGE, Texas A&M

Let’s assume the Cowboys eventually get a deal done with Dak Prescott — because they should. CeeDee Lamb is on the list, too. That may leave Demarcus Lawrence unsigned.

If EDGE becomes a need again in 2025, Nic Scourton makes sense as Lawrence’s successor. Like Lawrence, he’s powerfully built but can win with force and finesse.

2.45) Dallas Cowboys: Damien Martinez, RB, Miami (FL)

At around 240 pounds, Damien Martinez is just the type of volume back the Cowboys need to play ball-control offense. He has the size, power, and tenacity of a true road-grader, but his vision and fluidity when pressing are quietly major strengths.

3.77) Dallas Cowboys: Tre Harris, WR, Ole Miss

At around 6’2″, 208 pounds, Tre Harris has some of the best catching instincts in the entire 2025 NFL Draft, and he gives the Cowboys a needed complementary WR.

    Rounds 4-7

    4.110) Danny Stutsman, LB, Oklahoma
    5.142) Maxwell Hairston, CB, Kentucky
6.174) Ashton Grable, OL, Florida A&M

Cowboys 2025 NFL Mock Draft Analysis

Few teams have the reputation of being such a mainstay in the NFL playoffs, while also lacking even a modicum of postseason success to show for it, like the Cowboys.

Jason Garrett had the Cowboys in the playoffs in half of his final six seasons with the team. They went 2-3 in those three appearances. Mike McCarthy, meanwhile, has led Dallas to the postseason in each of the last three seasons, all with 12-5 records.

Over that stretch, Dallas is 1-3 in January.

The Cowboys have enviable regular season success, but their merits in the playoffs do not match. It remains to be seen what the solution is, but this much is clear: Dallas can’t afford an off year when it comes to talent acquisition.

Specifically, there’s an abundance of turnover approaching in the 2025 offseason, and one veteran who could be leaving soon — with contracts looming for Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb — is edge rusher DeMarcus Lawrence. In this 2025 NFL Mock Draft, we found his replacement.

On the defensive side of the ball, Nic Scourton gives the Cowboys a new heavy-handed rusher who can win with finesse as easily as he can with power and strength. He has a ways to go before he’s at Lawrence’s level, but at just 20 years old, he’s already extremely promising.

The selections of Danny Stutsman and Maxwell Hairston also infuse the defense with great value at varying levels, while on offense, Damien Martinez and Tre Harris add to the weapons core for Prescott. Martinez, in particular, gives Dallas the volume back they desperately need.
