Who Should Be the Sixth Pick in 2024 Fantasy Football Drafts?

Who should you be selecting at No. 6 overall in fantasy football drafts? Let's take a look at three candidates that make sense.

If you are the owner of the sixth overall pick in a 1QB, PPR fantasy football draft in 2024, you have several strong options to build your team around.

Whether you’re targeting a wide receiver or running back, this draft position allows you to secure an anchor player with league-winning fantasy value.

Using a combination of Sleeper‘s ADP and Pro Football Network’s Fantasy Football Rankings, we will examine three potential players who could be available at sixth overall.

Which Players Should You Consider Picking No. 6 Overall?

    WHO SHOULD BE WHICH PICK?: 1st | 2nd | 3rd | 4th | 5th | 7th | 8th | 9th | 10th | 11th | 12th

Ja’Marr Chase, WR, Cincinnati Bengals (Above ADP)

2024 Expectations: Ja’Marr Chase is currently ranked as WR3 with an ADP of fifth overall, according to PFN’s fantasy rankings and Sleeper ADP.

Despite finishing as WR11 last season, Chase still delivered solid WR1 numbers, averaging 16.4 fantasy points per game. However, injuries to both Chase and his quarterback, Joe Burrow, impacted his overall production. If both stay healthy, there’s every reason to believe Chase can return to elite status in 2023.

2023 Data: Chase’s target share dropped from 29.3% in 2022 to 26.3% in 2023, which impacted his overall production. Despite this, he maintained a healthy yards per reception average (12.2) and yards per route run average (2.02) in 2023.

Argument: With Burrow expected to be fully healthy in 2024, the Bengals’ offense should be firing on all cylinders, positioning Chase for a rebound. There are some concerns about Chase’s volatility when compared to other top-tier receivers. Regardless of these concerns, Chase remains a top-tier pick, and while drafting him at No. 6 overall might feel like a slight reach, his ceiling potential justifies the risk.

Bijan Robinson, RB, Atlanta Falcons (At ADP)

2024 Expectations: Bijan Robinson enters the 2024 NFL season with high expectations. He is currently being drafted as RB3 with an ADP of sixth overall.

After a promising rookie season, Robinson is expected to take a significant Year 2 leap, especially with a new coaching staff in place and a more stable quarterback situation with Kirk Cousins now in Atlanta. Robinson’s talent is undeniable, and he’s poised to be a focal point in the Falcons’ offense, making him a strong RB1 candidate in 2024.

The Data: In 2023, Robinson led all running backs with a 17.2% target share, showcasing his elite three-down versatility as both a rusher and receiver. He was also one of the top players in the NFL at forcing missed tackles, posting a 23.2% evaded tackles per touch rate, which ranked 11th in the league. Additionally, Robinson excelled in yards created per touch, averaging 3.83 yards (12th overall).

Argument: The Falcons’ offense, under the direction of new offensive coordinator Zac Robinson, is likely to feature Robinson heavily, which could lead to a breakout season. Given his current ADP, selecting Robinson at sixth overall aligns perfectly with expectations, offering both safety and upside. Robinson is a high-upside pick at this spot, with the potential to deliver elite RB1 production throughout the 2024 season.

Breece Hall, RB, New York Jets (Below ADP)

2024 Expectations: Breece Hall is currently being drafted as RB2 with an ADP of No. 9 overall. Currently, he’s the fourth overall rated player in PFN’s fantasy rankings.

Despite recovering from an ACL injury in 2022 and a challenging 2023 season for the New York Jets after losing Aaron Rodgers in Week 1, Hall still managed to finish as RB6, averaging 17.1 fantasy points per game. With the return of a healthy Rodgers, Hall’s three-down versatility could see a significant boost in 2024.

The Data: Hall’s performance improved significantly towards the end of the 2023 season. Over the final five weeks, he averaged 25.8 fantasy points per game, highlighting his elite RB1 upside. Hall’s ability to produce elite numbers despite playing behind a weak offensive line and a struggling offense speaks to his immense talent. He also posted a 25.8% evaded tackles per touch rate in 2023, ranking him among the NFL’s most elusive runners.

Argument: With the Jets’ offense likely to improve in 2024, Hall could challenge Christian McCaffrey and Robinson for the overall RB1 spot. His current ADP suggests that he is already highly valued, but selecting him with the No. 6 pick could provide the best overall value and league-winning upside.

    Who Should Go No. 6?

Deciding who to select with the sixth overall pick depends on your draft strategy. Chase offers elite, league-winning value if the Bengals’ offense is at full strength, while Robinson provides a coveted high-volume RB1 ceiling, making him an excellent choice. Hall is also a strong option with the Jets’ potential offensive resurgence in 2024.

Ultimately, Robinson emerges as the best anchor option, given his alignment with ADP and potential breakout season in a revitalized Atlanta offense.
