Owain Jones’ 2025 NFL Mock Draft: Travis Hunter Slides to the Colts, Jets Pick Shedeur Sanders as Their Future

    Published on

Players from both trenches dominate the latest 2025 NFL Mock Draft, while four QBs land in the first round.

Preseason games are upon us as we hurdle toward the 2024 NFL season, and our latest 2025 NFL Mock Draft looks at some needs that must be addressed. As summer scouting boards get set, which prospects have shown the potential to be first-round picks in the 2025 NFL Draft?

Using reverse Super Bowl odds for the order, and a little help from the updated PFN Mock Draft Simulator for the selections, we attempt to predict who will hear their name called at Lambeau Field next April.

    2025 NFL Mock Draft

    1) Carolina Panthers: James Pearce Jr., EDGE, Tennessee

Since the turn of the century, the only positions to be selected with the number one overall picks have been QB, EDGE, and OT. While the QB class isn’t shaping up to be the most exciting, there doesn’t appear to be any reason to deviate from that trend in this 2025 NFL Mock Draft.

With Brian Burns now with the New York Giants, Carolina’s pass rush is a pressing concern for 2025. James Pearce Jr. emerges as a potential solution, given his exceptional athletic traits, agility, and acceleration. While he needs to enhance his strength profile at 6’5” and 243 pounds, the Volunteers pass rusher’s existing production and athletic attributes position him as a top pick come April.

    2) Tennessee Titans: Nic Scourton, EDGE, Texas A&M

Nic Scourton caught the eye at Purdue, where his constant motor, overpowering strength, and surprising flexibility led to 10 sacks with the Boilermakers in 2023. He transferred to Texas A&M for the 2024 season.

The young A&M transfer has a high floor but also a sky-high ceiling and NFL-ready size at 6’4” and 280 pounds. Meanwhile, he will be just 20 years old on draft day. With a strong arsenal of skill moves and the processing speed to exploit space, Scourton has the twitch and hurry to be an immediate threat in the NFL.

    3) New England Patriots: Kelvin Banks Jr., OT, Texas

Kelvin Banks Jr. is an explosive athlete who plays with high energy and strength with the promising potential to match. Currently, the Longhorns tackle wins with his burst and natural leverage creation as he overwhelms opponents at 6’4” and 324 pounds.

Banks has the frame and athletic traits that usually translate into significant draft capital. As he becomes more refined with his technique, counters, and hand placement while becoming more battle-tested in the SEC, the Texas junior has the traits to develop into an early pick.

    4) Denver Broncos: Mason Graham, DT, Michigan

Mason Graham is a dominant interior defensive tackle who overwhelms opposing offensive linemen with his brute strength, heavy hands, and size (6’3” and 318 pounds). The Michigan defender plays with unnatural explosiveness and can take over games with his playmaking capacity and ability to control the point of attack.

    5) Las Vegas Raiders: Carson Beck, QB, Georgia

Carson Beck may be in a different mold than the flashy QB prospects we have seen in recent seasons, but the Georgia passer is easily the most polished and refined signal caller through summer scouting.

Beck has excellent decision-making skills and pinpoint accuracy when being precise from the pocket. He is an on-schedule thrower who processes the field quickly and operates with incredible timing and clean mechanics.

    6) New York Giants: Conner Weigman, QB, Texas A&M

Conner Weigman flashed in 2023 before suffering a season-ending injury four weeks into the season. The Texas A&M quarterback has above-average arm strength to layer the football and has the vision and accuracy to hit receivers on time in any area of the field. With an entire healthy season, Weigman has the creativity, pocket presence, and anticipation to challenge to be QB1.

    7) Arizona Cardinals: Will Johnson, CB, Michigan

Will Johnson is ranked second on PFN’s top 100 prospects and is a true lockdown corner for the Wolverines. With fluid movement, reactive quickness, and sharp ball skills combined with intelligence, refined technique, and awareness, the pathway is set for Johnson to take the NFL by storm.

    8) Washington Commanders: Luther Burden III, WR, Missouri

Jayden Daniels thrived at LSU with receivers who could stretch the field, and the addition of Luther Burden III in Washington would give the new Commanders’ quarterback another go-to target.

Burden has the elite athleticism to take over games. His change of direction, ball skills, and agility make him difficult for defenders to track while his twitchy, crisp route running makes him an every-level threat — including after the catch. A unique separator with great vision, Burden is a modern-day WR that can win in many different ways.

    9) New Orleans Saints: Abdul Carter, EDGE, Penn State

Abdul Carter is a freak athlete who will spend his first season exclusively on the edge in 2024 after playing off-ball linebacker for the last two seasons. The dominant Penn State defender has incredible playmaking instincts, length, and a snappy first step to overwhelm opponents. At 6’3” and 250 pounds, he is still developing.

    10) Minnesota Vikings: Malaki Starks, S, Georgia

Malaki Starks is a rare, blue-chip safety prospect. The former five-star recruit has the production, athleticism, and potential to be taken in the top 10.

At 6’1” and 205 pounds, the Georgia DB boasts elite proportional length, twitched-up explosive movement, and tenacious physicality combined with full-field range, versatility, and awareness to transition instantly to the next level.

    11) Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Tetairoa McMillan, WR, Arizona

With Mike Evans aging and Chris Godwin needing an extension, the Buccaneers will have to consider adding top-tier talent to the receiver room.

Tetairoa McMillan is a rangy, dominant WR—listed at 6’5” and 210 pounds—whose physicality and flexible body control create space and conquer at the catch point. The Arizona WR’s smooth route running, acceleration, and agility allow him to win vertically and with the ball in his hands.

    12) Seattle Seahawks: Mykel Williams, EDGE, Georgia

Mykel Williams is a long edge rusher who holds up against the run on Georgia’s defensive front. Further, he offers immense potential as a pass rusher. With 27 pressures and six sacks in 2023, Williams showcases explosive athleticism, unwavering power, and agile flexibility.

The Georgia defender is still a projection due to his developing pass-rush plan. Nevertheless, he grades out as an early selection because of his physical traits and elite athleticism.

    13) Indianapolis Colts: Travis Hunter, WR/CB, Colorado

With some of the best ball skills and instincts in the 2025 NFL Draft class, Travis Hunter would be an instant starting CB in Indianapolis, with the flexibility to play offensive snaps.

After playing 475 offensive snaps and 631 defensive snaps in 2023, the Colorado star has proved he is a true two-way player who can thrive on both sides of the ball. With elite athleticism underpinning his game (coming in second on Bruce Feldman’s 2024 Freaks List), the college football phenom has the makings of a lottery pick.

    14) Pittsburgh Steelers: Benjamin Morrison, CB, Notre Dame

The 2025 cornerback class is stacked and in part headlined by Benjamin Morrison, who challenges Johnson for the title of CB1. The Notre Dame product is an electric mover at 6’0” and 185 pounds who plays with strong technique, physicality at the catch point, and ingrained anticipation.

    15) Jacksonville Jaguars: Will Campbell, OT, LSU

With Cam Robinson and Walker Little out of their contracts at the end of the 2024 season, Jacksonville will be taking a keen interest in the development of a clustered 2025 offensive tackle class.

At 6’6” and 320 pounds, Will Campbell has the size and physical traits to create natural leverage with a strong anchor and low center of gravity. With above-average athleticism and a robust strength profile to counter on passing sets, the LSU Tiger has the makings of a franchise offensive tackle in the NFL.

    16) Cleveland Browns: Evan Stewart, WR, Oregon

Evan Stewart is a speedy receiver whose electric, twitchy movement skills give him the tools to win deep. Despite being undersized at 6’0” and 175 pounds, the Oregon transfer makes up for his light frame with an instant change of direction and track-star acceleration to exploit space.

    17) Los Angeles Rams: Quinn Ewers, QB, Texas

Sean McVay and the Rams must start planning for life after Matthew Stafford. While he may not be ready to start immediately, Quinn Ewers has an exciting combination of arm strength, functional athleticism, and pocket movement that fits well in McVay’s scheme.

While the Texas quarterback still needs to work on the consistency of his mechanics, Los Angeles would be an excellent environment for Ewers to continue his development.

    18) Los Angeles Chargers: Deone Walker, DT, Kentucky

Deone Walker is a rare athlete and a transformative interior pass rusher. In 2023, the Kentucky DT played with the requisite explosiveness to eradicate opponents’ blocks, with 7.5 sacks and 12.5 TFLs. At 6’6” and 248 pounds, Walker has special body control and athleticism to propel him up draft boards if he can consistently lower his pad level.

    19) Chicago Bears: Kenneth Grant, DT, Michigan

Kenneth Grant is an absurd athlete. Feldman reports that the Michigan DT clocked 18.75 mph on the GPS, ran a sub-5-second 40-yard dash, had a 29-inch vertical jump, and had the strength to press a 115-pound dumbbell 34 times.

That elite athleticism translates to the film where Grant controls the line of scrimmage with his unrelenting power profile and unnatural bend to burst through gaps and close rushing lanes.

    20) Atlanta Falcons: Tacario Davis, CB, Arizona

Tacario Davis has unique physical tools and can combine great length with fluid mobility. His rare range and catch radius give the Arizona CB a high ceiling at the next level. At 6’4” and 195 pounds, Davis overwhelms opponents with his size, where his long strides and snappy change of direction excel against larger receivers on the outside.

    21) Miami Dolphins: Emery Jones Jr., OT, LSU

Terron Armstead isn’t the long-term answer for the Dolphins, and while Patrick Paul was selected in the 2024 NFL Draft, it would be difficult for Miami to pass up the value of Emery Jones Jr. here, who is on track to be a different caliber of prospect.

Jones has the size (6’6” and 322 pounds), functional athleticism, and power profile to be a first-round pick. Combined with his incredible intelligence, anticipation, and unrelenting violent mentality, the LSU RT is among the top tackles in the 2025 NFL Draft class.

    22) Green Bay Packers: Tyleik Williams, DT, Ohio State

Tyleik Williams enters the season with high expectations after surprisingly returning to school. The Ohio State defender is a polished prospect who plays with a high football IQ and gap control. Williams’ hand usage to stack and shed blockers makes him strong against the run, where he showcases his physicality, reactive burst, and consistency.

    23) New York Jets: Shedeur Sanders, QB, Colorado

The bright lights of New York have troubled many quarterbacks, but perhaps no passer has been better prepared for the spotlight than Shedeur Sanders.

    MORE: 2025 NFL Draft Watchlist

The Colorado product has struggled with offensive line play, which will likely improve for the 2024 season. Look for Sanders to showcase his high-velocity arm strength, field vision, and acute anticipation at a higher level this season.

    24) Houston Texans: Denzel Burke, CB, Ohio State

Denzel Burke is a prospect who plays with the mental and physical traits that NFL teams fall in love with. An above-average athlete with excellent ball skills, the Buckeyes corner has distinct football intelligence and anticipation. While he may be smaller than his 6’1”, 193-pound listing, his explosive movement and physicality negate any size deficiency.

    25) Dallas Cowboys: Emeka Egbuka, WR, Ohio State

Emeka Egbuka is flying under the radar in 2024 after having an injury-plagued season in 2023. However, his 2022 tape showcases what an exciting option the Ohio State receiver can be from the slot.

A refined technician, Egbuka has an advanced skillset, where his vision and understanding of how to manipulate space showcase his nuance. With fantastic ball tracking, short-area quickness, and fluid route running, the Buckeyes receiver will enter the next level with a high floor to kickstart his NFL career.

    26) Philadelphia Eagles: Aireontae Ersery, OT, Minnesota

Aireontae Ersery is a physical specimen. At 6’6” and 330 pounds, the Minnesota LT has special movement skills and is one of the strongest prospects eligible for the 2025 NFL Draft.

Combining elite athleticism, striking power, and above-average size, Ersery is extremely difficult to get around and would be the heir apparent to Lane Johnson in Philadelphia.

    27) Cincinnati Bengals: Princely Umanmielen, EDGE, Ole Miss

Princely Umanmielen is a twitchy pass rusher with impressive explosiveness and flexibility to bend around the edge. The former Florida Gator, at 6’5” and 255 pounds, had seven sacks in 2023 while also impressing against the run.

A nuanced rusher who can convert speed to power, Umanmielen is an instinctual producer. However, he must still add to his power profile to avoid getting locked up by physical offensive tackles.

    28) Buffalo Bills: Jonah Savaiinaea, OT, Arizona

Mocking Jonah Savaiinaea to the Bills is an easy selection. Buffalo has had problems at RT, and Spencer Brown hasn’t shown enough to believe he is the future at the position.

Savaiinaea can slot straight in with his energetic movement and NFL-ready size at 6’5” and 330 pounds. With more refinement to his hand technique, the Arizona tackle can potentially evolve into one of the top linemen in this class.

    29) Detroit Lions: Aston Gillotte, EDGE, Louisville

The Lions are searching for a consistent defensive end opposite Aidan Hutchinson, and Ashton Gillotte has the floor and physical profile to complement Detroit’s star pass rusher.

At 6’3” and 270 pounds, the senior Louisville defensive end has an explosive first step and plays with immense power and strength. With 11 sacks in 2023, Gillotte has already displayed the production. If he can improve his counter moves and maintain leverage by disengaging blocks quicker, the star Cardinals prospect can solidify himself as a late-first-round talent.

    30) Baltimore Ravens: Josh Conerly Jr., OT, Oregon

If a new deal can’t be agreed upon, Ronnie Stanley will become a free agent in 2025. Finding the future at LT should be a priority for the Ravens, even if the veteran All-Pro re-signs.

Josh Conerly Jr. has the movement skills, natural leverage generation, and sturdy anchor to be in the first-round discussion. The Ducks tackle is slightly undersized at 6’4” and 305 pounds. Conerly has good length and mass and should again be one of the top tackles in the nation during the 2024 season as he faces off against Big Ten competition.

    31) San Francisco 49ers: J.T. Tuimoloau, EDGE, Ohio State

J.T. Tuimoloau is an active, heavy-handed pass rusher who has flashed in Columbus. While the Ohio State product has shown good awareness and vision, he lacks some bend, flexibility, and inventive pass-rush moves. Paired with other inconsistencies, he struggles to challenge the elite atop the edge class.

However, Tuimoloau has the foundational floor to compete against both phases and has some high-level play that can be further unlocked at the next level.

    32) Kansas City Chiefs: Walter Nolen, DT, Ole Miss

Mocking Walter Nolen in the first round is a projection. The Ole Miss transfer is still incredibly raw, and the former five-star recruit hasn’t yet lived but the billing.

When Nolen wins at 6’3” and 300 pounds, he does so from his natural energetic movement, power, and range. If the new Rebels defensive tackle can develop and play with more control, refinement, and consistency, he has the talent profile to be drafted in the first round.
