‘I’m a Little Distraught’ — Miami Dolphins RB Raheem Mostert Reacts to NFL’s Top 100 List

Miami Dolphins RB Raheem Mostert cracked the NFL Top 100 for the first time, but his ranking only added to the considerable chip on his shoulder.

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — Miami Dolphins back Raheem Mostert is on the NFL’s Top 100 list for the first time, and given how little respect running backs get, his ranking isn’t too shabby.

He came in at 60th overall — ahead of star teammates Bradley Chubb and Jaylen Waddle.

And yet, when asked about that personal accomplishment Friday, Mostert was nonplussed.

Miami Dolphins RB Raheem Mostert Sounds Off

“I was pretty [low],” he said. “I was a little distraught because I thought I was going to be a little bit [higher], but honestly, it just gives me more motivation to work even harder.

“I did what I did last year, but now it’s time to move on,” Mostert continued. “It’s Year 2024, and I got bigger and better things that I want to get accomplished.

“I want to help this team as much as I possibly can because it’s gonna be nice to have a championship down here in South Florida.”

(For the record, we didn’t tell him about his inexcusable exclusion from the PFN Top 100 list).

Mostert in 2023 broke the franchise records in rushing touchdowns (18) and total touchdowns (21). He went over 1,000 yards for the first time in his nine-year career and represented the AFC in the Pro Bowl.

    And yet …

“I’m always gonna be underrated, no matter what,” Mostert said. “I’m an underrated, under-the-radar type of guy. That’s fine with me and, you know, when I do the things I do and compete and show people that I’m worth something, I’m worth a damn, then that’s when all the haters, they’re usually quiet.

“I feed off of that type of stuff, and I don’t listen to what everybody else has to say,” he added. “I’m just gonna go out here and help this team win, and I’m gonna do what I have to do.”

Mostert is an anomaly at his position. He’s 32 years old, which is ancient for running backs. So the Dolphins are wise to limit his snaps this season to make sure he’s healthy and fresh for the stretch run.

Asked if the Dolphins have him on a maintenance plan this summer, Mostert replied:

“Honestly, they just call my number [and] I go out there. I’m feeling great. I’m ready to go, ready to rock. We’ll see how it goes. But just know that every time they’re gonna call my number, I’m gonna be ready to go.”
