Who Are the Best Quarterbacks To Draft in Dynasty?

    Patrick Mahomes

For the longest time, I steadfastly kept Patrick Mahomes atop my dynasty QB rankings. After four straight years of Josh Allen dominance, combined with Mahomes’ underwhelming 2023, I had to relent. But I have a feeling he’s going right back atop the list after this season.

Mahomes and the Chiefs are coming off their worst offensive season during his tenure as the starting QB. Since then, they’ve revamped the offense by adding Hollywood Brown and Xavier Worthy. Combined with Rashee Rice, Mahomes now actually has an exciting young corps of talented receivers.

Mahomes is still only in his age-29 season. As the most talented QB in NFL history, there’s no reason to think he can’t be a top fantasy option for the next decade.

He will outlast Allen, Lamar Jackson, and Jalen Hurts. There’s no doubt he can be the cornerstone of any great dynasty roster.

    C.J. Stroud

Is there a safer selection at the quarterback position than C.J. Stroud? The Texans star had one of the greatest rookie seasons a quarterback has ever had. He will turn just 23 years old during the upcoming season.

Stroud is not a mobile quarterback, which does lower his upside. However, the fact that he doesn’t run should increase his longevity. Stroud is already a top-five real-life QB. He can feasibly do this for at least the next decade.

Stroud is coming off a season where he finished as the overall QB7, averaging 18.7 fantasy points per game. Fantasy managers who draft him in dynasty know he’s only going to get better.

Stroud is a set-it-and-forget-it QB1 for quite possibly another 15 years. That’s 15 years of not having to worry about a quarterback at all. That kind of safety frees up a manager to maneuver with the rest of their roster. Even though quarterbacks are often afterthoughts in single QB leagues, the benefits of drafting Stroud far outweigh the opportunity cost of taking a QB earlier in a startup.
