Many recognizable NFL veterans remain unsigned despite all 32 teams now in training camp. Names like Ryan Tannehill, Michael Thomas, and Hunter Renfrow are the headliners, but plenty of other offensive players are still free agents. Today, we take a look at the top offensive players who remain unsigned.
Top NFL Free Agents Available on Offense
Quarterback
1) Ryan Tannehill
2) Trevor Siemian
3) Blaine Gabbert
4) Brian Hoyer
5) AJ McCarron
Good luck if your favorite NFL team needs a backup quarterback. Once free agency opened in March, starters like Kirk Cousins, Baker Mayfield, and Russell Wilson quickly left the market, while backups such as Jameis Winston, Drew Lock, and Tyrod Taylor also found new homes.
While Tannehill is coming off a disappointing season and has struggled with injuries for a few campaigns in a row, he’s easily the best QB option on the market. He’s 35 but still athletic enough to play in an offense that can get him on the move.
Teams that finished near the bottom of Pro Football Network’s backup quarterback rankings might show interest in Tannehill as training camps progress.
Siemian has 33 career starts under his belt but struggled in five appearances for the New York Jets in 2023. Gabbert started the Kansas City Chiefs’ meaningless Week 18 game but was replaced by Carson Wentz over the offseason. McCarron was out of football in 2022 before re-joining the Bengals following Joe Burrow’s season-ending 2023 injury.
Running Back
1) Latavius Murray
2) Kareem Hunt
3) Jerick McKinnon
4) Dalvin Cook
5) Joshua Kelley
6) Eno Benjamin
7) Deon Jackson
8) Melvin Gordon III
9) Jakob Johnson (FB)
10) Keith Smith (FB)
Now 34 years old, Murray was the oldest running back in the NFL last season. He signed with the Buffalo Bills in May 2023 and turned into a contributor after fellow RB Damien Harris suffered a career-ending injury in Week 5. Murray became Buffalo’s RB2, taking 96 touches for 419 total yards and four touchdowns.
McKinnon played 535 offensive snaps and hauled in 51 receptions for the Chiefs in 2022, but his role dwindled in 2023. The 32-year-old’s snap rate was nearly sliced in half, while he spent time on injured reserve late in the season before being activated for Kansas City’s eventual Super Bowl victory.

Despite his age, McKinnon doesn’t have much wear and tear. He’s only carried the ball 660 times in his NFL career, instead doing most of his damage as a pass catcher.
Running backs further down our free agent list will probably need to carry special-teams ability to interest suitors, which could make Brightwell a valuable commodity.
Wide Receiver
1) Michael Thomas
2) Hunter Renfrow
3) Corey Davis
4) Julio Jones
5) Richie James
6) Jamal Agnew
7) Alex Erickson
8) Jakeem Grant
9) Jarvis Landry
10) Robbie Chosen
Thomas was dominant as the New Orleans Saints’ WR1 at the end of the 2010s, setting an NFL record with 149 catches in 2019. However, injuries destroyed the better part of four seasons for Thomas, and the 31-year-old missed the final seven games of the 2023 campaign with a knee injury.
Two years removed from a 103-1,038-9 line, Renfrow played just 35% of the Las Vegas Raiders’ offensive snaps in 2023. The Raiders couldn’t find a taker for Renfrow at last year’s trade deadline, and he’s generated no known interest on the free agent market. Still, he should be among the first calls for NFL teams with WR injuries this summer.
Davis stepped away from football in 2023 but applied for reinstatement in March. The former first-round pick is still only 29 and could have suitors once his NFL status is cleared up.
Agnew and Grant are former All-Pro return men, while James and Erickson also have experience handling kickoffs and punts.
Tight End
1) Trevon Wesco
2) Geoff Swaim
3) Blake Bell
4) Brycen Hopkins
5) Tyler Kroft
6) Jimmy Graham
Wesco’s 424 snaps in 2023 were the most of any remaining free agent tight end. He can also play fullback, and that versatility could be intriguing for teams that deploy ample 12 personnel.
Swaim has also been involved with his respective clubs, playing at least 300 offensive snaps in five of the last six seasons. Primarily a blocker, Swaim has never caught more than 31 passes in a campaign, but he plays special teams.
Graham is the most significant name among FA tight ends, but he turns 38 in November. While he appeared in 13 games for the Saints in 2023, Graham played fewer than 200 snaps and received only seven targets.
Offensive Tackle
1) Donovan Smith
2) D.J. Humphries
3) Charles Leno Jr.
4) David Bakhtiari
5) Jason Peters
6) Cam Fleming
7) Duane Brown
8) Tyre Phillips
9) Billy Turner
10) Riley Reiff
While some of the NFL’s other free agent positional groups have been picked over at this point in the calendar, the offensive tackle market still has several viable options.
Smith has made 136 career starts. He battled injuries with the Chiefs in 2023 but still appeared in 12 regular-season games before starting four playoff games on the way to a Super Bowl title.

Humphries tore his ACL in January and may not be ready for Week 1. However, his injury status could make him affordable and attractive to NFL contenders, who might like the idea of adding a starting-caliber OT late in the season.
Leno and Bakhtiari are also coming off injuries, but teams with a left tackle need could do worse than either veteran. Clubs that desperately need OT help — like the Washington Commanders, New England Patriots, and Saints — could consider this group as the season approaches.
Interior Offensive Line
1) Mason Cole
2) Halapoulivaati Vaitai
3) Connor McGovern
4) Phil Haynes
5) Justin Pugh
6) Mark Glowinski
7) Tyler Larsen
8) Matt Feiler
9) Gabe Jackson
10) Max Garcia
Cole is 28, can play center and guard, and boasts 73 career starts and 4,300 snaps.
Injuries limited Vaitai to just six games and three starts for the Detroit Lions over the past two seasons. However, he can play tackle and guard, offering flexibility that could help him land a job.
McGovern has most recently been a center but can play anywhere along the interior. Pugh and Glowinski were part of a dreadful New York Giants OL in 2023 but could make sense as experienced backups.
