2020 Dynasty SuperFlex Mock Draft from the 6th pick

PFN Dynasty analyst Dennis Sosic completes his Dynasty Superflex Mock Draft series by drafting from the 6th pick. Find out who he drafted and why.

Welcome back fantasy friends and foes to the final installment of my mock draft series, the 2020 Dynasty Superflex Mock Draft from the 6th pick.

Picking from the sixth pick in a dynasty format raises dilemmas on whether to gamble on one of the top two quarterbacks in Patrick Mahomes or Lamar Jackson, selecting a running back or taking one of the elite wide receivers.

Looking for other mock drafts to gain different perspectives? Check out my 2020 Dynasty Superflex Mock Draft from the 1.01 and my 2020 Dynasty Superflex Mock Draft from the 12th pick.

Let’s discover how I tackled the 17 rounds of my 2020 Dynasty Superflex Mock Draft while using the Fantasy Pros Mock Draft tool.

This mock draft will be a 12-team serpentine (snake) draft, and we start QB-1, RB-2, WR-3, TE-1, FLEX-1, and one SuperFlex. There are NO kickers or defenses in this mock draft as it should be in all leagues, but I digress.

    Round 1: Alvin Kamara

Kamara will be a first-round value selection

The draft unfolded quite nicely for me. Two owners picking wide receivers opened the door for me to select a stud running back in Alvin Kamara or take quarterback Patrick Mahomes. I love the excellent value that Kamara brings here as the sixth overall selection.

Kamara is still a PPR stud and does not have to sustain the same type of workload that the other elite backs do. If you spent a top-five pick on Alvin Kamara in 2019, you were probably disappointed in the New Orleans Saints running back. Kamara finished 12th in Half-PPR scoring among running backs.

The former Tennessee Volunteer missed two games due to lower leg injuries, but Kamara never looked quite himself last season. The main reason that fantasy owners felt let down by Kamara was his dramatic drop in touchdowns. He scored 13 times in his rookie season in 2017 and followed that up with an incredible 18 touchdowns in 2018. Unfortunately, he scored only six times last season.

    Kamara’s fantasy analysis

On the positive side of the ledger, Kamara still managed to exceed 1,300 scrimmage yards for the third consecutive season. Additionally, he has recorded 81 receptions in each of his first three seasons. Even in Kamara’s least productive season, he still managed to produce 4.7 yards per attempt.

Kamara now says he is now feeling 100 percent. Take into account his workload, the return of Drew Brees, and the Saints reliance on the running game, Kamara is due for some positive regression heading into the 2020 season.

He currently ranks as the RB5 and the 11th overall pick according to our Dynasty Superflex PPR rankings. The ceiling is unlimited for him as he enters the final year of his rookie contract. A no-brainer selection and great value here with tremendous upside at the sixth overall selection.

    Round 2: Josh Jacobs

Jacobs has top-five running back upside

I mulled over the idea of selecting quarterback Kyler Murray here, but I didn’t like the value taking a quarterback in the second round. However, I do love the idea of having two stud running backs head my dynasty team. I debated over going with Jonathan Taylor, but I ultimately decided to run with Las Vegas Raiders running back Josh Jacobs.

Jacobs finished his rookie season with 1,150 rushing yards on 242 attempts with an impressive 4.8 yards per carry. He also had 20 receptions on 27 targets for 166 receiving yards in only 13 games last season. Jacobs did most of his damage last season with a fractured shoulder, while missing the final three games of the season due to the injury.

    Jacob’s fantasy analysis

Amazingly, Jacobs finished RB18 in fantasy points and was the RB13 on a points-per-game basis, despite playing in only 13 games.

Jacobs showed that he has the skillset to be a three-down workhorse, but the Raiders don’t utilize the former Alabama star in that regard. Both Jalen Richard and DeAndre Washington saw more targets than Jacobs last season.

Here’s hoping that now that his shoulder is healed up, that Jacobs should see a more prominent role in the passing game. He is the center of the Raiders offense, and head coach Jon Gruden loves his bell-cow backs.

His floor is RB10, but with increased involvement in the passing game, a top-five back is his ceiling. Jacobs is a solid selection and worthy of my draft capital to be my RB2 on my dynasty roster.

    Round 3: Kenny Golladay

    Golladay is a rising star

Looking at the draft board, I am gearing up to take a WR, but I wanted to take one last look at another possible RB if there were any featured backs remaining. I was so tempted to take Philadelphia Eagles running back Miles Sanders, but with two stud running backs already on my roster, I chose the top receiver on the board, who is Detroit Lions Kenny Golladay.

Golladay reached another level in his third season in the league. He finished third in the NFL in yards per catch (18.3), seventh in receiving yards ( career-best 1,190), and led the league with 11  receiving touchdowns.

Golladay is an unheralded rising star. He has increased his production in every one of his past three seasons in yards from 477 to 1,063 to 1,190 and touchdowns from three to five to 11.

    Golladay’s fantasy analysis

The most impressive aspect of Golladay’s outstanding 2019 season was that he produced impressive numbers without quarterback Matthew Stafford for much of the year.

In eight games with Stafford under center, Golladay had 35 receptions for 640 yards and seven touchdowns with four 100-yard outings. In eight games with Jeff Driskel and David Blough attempting to play quarterback, he had 30 catches for 550 yards and four touchdowns.

During the year, Golladay failed to reach double-digit fantasy points in only four of his 15 games, finishing sixth in total fantasy points among all wide receivers. I am thrilled to see what Golladay will produce with Stafford under center for the entire season.
