After ‘Quarterback’ and ‘Receiver,’ Which Position Group Should Netflix Feature Next?

Following the success of "Quarterback" and "Receiver," which position group should Netflix highlight next?

Netflix’s docuseries on various NFL positions have been well received.

With “Quarterback,” they highlighted Patrick Mahomes, Kirk Cousins, and Marcus Mariota. Their new series, “Receiver,” features Justin Jefferson, Davante Adams, Amon-Ra St. Brown, Deebo Samuel Sr., and George Kittle.

Which direction will Netflix take the show in Year 3?

Which Position Group Should Netflix Follow Next?

We recently covered the next wide receivers Netflix should feature if they bring back “Receiver” for a second season, but it’s possible they’ll pivot to a new position group altogether. If that’s the case, which position will be next for the streaming platform?

    Running Backs

Wide receivers and quarterbacks were an obvious parallel for Netflix to begin this series. One of the best ways for the streaming platform to add a new wrinkle is by featuring running backs.

The position has changed in value over the last few years. Before the 2023 season, many of the top players at the position jumped on a Zoom call to try and find ways to make the most possible money in their contracts despite the perception of decreasing value.

Now, top players like Saquon Barkley, Christian McCaffrey, and Josh Jacobs have led somewhat of a resurgence for running backs.

Following the three backs listed above, as well as some of the other young tailbacks like Bijan Robinson and Breece Hall, could be a very unique cast of characters for Netflix to target next.

    Tight Ends

George Kittle is featured in Netflix’s “Receiver,” so the tight end position may not have the fanfare for its own season.

Should the streaming platform decide to highlight the position, though, there are plenty of players who they can target.

The top choice to follow throughout a season is Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. The All-Pro’s life has blown up since his relationship with pop star Taylor Swift, so Netflix can utilize that as part of its viewership push.

However, it’s worth noting that Kelce declined to participate in “Receiver” and doesn’t seem interested in doing any more reality television.

Other tight ends like Mark Andrews, Sam LaPorta, and Dallas Goedert are all players who could be included in the show. Perhaps a long-awaited Kyle Pitts breakout would be in store for Season 3.

    Edge Rusher

I would argue the edge rushers of the league would be the most enticing of any other position to be highlighted by Netflix.

Outside of following around the best pass rushers in the game, there is a ton of strategy that goes into perfecting the moves necessary to beat offensive tackles across the league. There are also many ways to succeed at the position. Some players can be tall and lanky, while others are short and more predicated on power.

Covering the likes of Micah Parsons, T.J. Watt, Myles Garrett, and young players such as Bryce Huff, Josh Uche, and others would be an interesting follow.
