New York Giants RB Devin Singletary spent last season with the Houston Texans and totaled over 1,000 yards while averaging 14.5 touches per game. He may not have a ton of explosive play potential, but he did prove to be a viable workhorse last season and will enter 2024 with a similar touch projection.
Is the volume too much to ignore in fantasy football, or is there more risk than reward entering Singletary’s sixth NFL season?
Should You Select Devin Singletary at His Current ADP?
ADP: 96th Overall (RB34)
Singletary is flirting with the top 100 in fantasy drafts, and I think that’s about where he should be going. The upside is limited, but, at least to open the season, so is his floor because of the available touches. The value of each touch can be debated, but at this point in the proceedings, opportunity is currency.
Singletary is the RB1 on his team entering the summer, something we can’t say with confidence about a promising talent like Tyjae Spears, who is also going in this range. Both running backs in the Washington Commanders backfield are in this tier, and I very much would invest there insted.
Both Austin Ekeler and Brian Robinson Jr.’s roles are in question, but that offense has some upside through an exciting athlete under center. How much better can the Giants realistically get? Robinson showcased enough versatility last season to have my interest, and when paired with Ekeler’s declining metrics, he is a steal at his current cost.
I’m not targeting Singletary at cost in any format, and it would take at least a round discount on his current ADP to have my interest. Tracy looms, and the threat of him seeing increased usage only increases as the season progresses — this team figures to be looking ahead to 2025 as the weather turns and Singletary isn’t part of the long-term plan.
Singletary’s Fantasy Profile for the 2024 NFL Season
Playing for his third team in as many seasons, Singletary is looking to build on a season that surprised most. On the bright side, last year’s featured back in New York averaged nearly 90 total yards per game and saw elite volume. On the not-so-bright side, Singletary is not Saquon Barkley.
Thanks to his raw talent, Barkley returned viable fantasy numbers. But even the former All-Pro averaged under four yards per carry and managed just a single 100-yard rushing day.
In theory, Singletary’s role atop this depth chart is safe. He turns 27 in September and inked a three-year deal in March ($16.5 million). However, let’s not write off Tyrone Tracy Jr., the Boilermaker who the Giants took in the fifth round of the 2024 NFL Draft.

Tracy averaged 6.3 yards per carry last season at Purdue, fully making the transition to the backfield from his receiver position. Pro Football Network NFL Draft Analyst Ian Cummings highlighted Tracy as a pre-draft sleeper due to his versatility, the result of an extended college career.
The Giants’ willingness to draft a 24-year-old tells me that they have immediate plans for him, which is noteworthy if volume is your primary reason for having optimism in Singletary.
