Who Goes Head-to-Head in the UFL Championship Game Today?

The UFL Championship begins at 5 p.m. ET as the Birmingham Stallions and San Antonio Brahmas head to The Dome at America’s Center to battle for the UFL Championship Trophy.

After falling into an 18-3 hole, the Stallions rattled off 28 unanswered points to take down the Michigan Panthers and secure the USFL Conference title. Meanwhile, the Brahmas cruised out to a 19-3 lead and held on to win 25-15 despite a fierce comeback attempt by the St. Louis Battlehawks in the XFL Conference title game.

Here’s a closer look at the UFL Championship matchup.

Birmingham Stallions vs. San Antonio Brahmas

    • Date: Sunday, June 16, 2024
    • Start time: 5 p.m. ET
    • Channel: Fox

After 11 weeks, the stage is set, The Brahmas will battle against the Stallions for the UFL Championship. Both teams have gone on stellar runs this season while facing different adversities.

The Stallions saw their starting core change as the season progressed, but head coach Skip Holtz‘s established winning culture has pushed them through the toughest of moments. Even when facing a 15-point deficit a week ago and benching UFL MVP Adrian Martinez, backup QB Matt Corral stepped in and took over.

The same can be said for San Antonio, which battled the injury bug all season long. However, the Wade Phillips-led squad wasn’t going to let that keep them down. Despite missing starting QB Chase Garbers for a good portion of the season and battling injuries to backup QB Quinten Dormady late, the Brahmas prevailed.

While Martinez was pulled from the USFL Conference championship matchup, Holtz has already announced he will start in the UFL Championship Game. San Antonio turns to Garbers under center once again. The QB1 has shown he’s the signal-caller with the most success in A.J. Smith’s offense — can he keep his momentum going?

However, this matchup also features a showdown between two elite defenses. The Brahmas have boasted the UFL’s best defense pretty much all season long. They allow just 15.3 points per game and held the Stallions to just nine points in Week 9.

Will Birmingham be able to make the necessary changes to have a better chance this evening in the UFL Championship Game, or will the Brahmas’ suffocating pass rush get the better of Martinez again? No matter if it’s a defensive duel or an offensive track meet, the UFL’s best are sure to give fans an incredible end to the season.
