The 2024 NFL Schedule officially releases tomorrow, but there has already been a fair share of leaks from the NFL on some of the biggest matchups set to occur. For the Kansas City Chiefs, things won’t start easy.

Chiefs Set To Face Baltimore Ravens in NFL Season Opener
As the Super Bowl champion does almost every year, Kansas City will host the NFL’s season opener. In 2023 the Chiefs played the Detroit Lions and in 2024 it’ll be the Baltimore Ravens heading to Kansas City for a rematch of the 2023 AFC Championship game.

This means Lamar Jackson and Patrick Mahomes will face off under the lights of Thursday Night Football. In recent years, the trend has been for the defending champion to lose, with both the Lions and Bills winning in the last two years.
However, some other storylines to follow include Derrick Henry’s Ravens debut, a Hollywood Brown revenge game, Xavier Worthy’s first NFL game, and how the Baltimore offensive line can hold up against Chris Jones. All of that should make for one of the best games of the season before the first Sunday kicks off.

Chiefs Set To Face Bengals in Week 2
Following the Ravens in Week 1, things don’t get easier the following week. The Chiefs will then face the Cincinnati Bengals at 4:25 p.m. ET. This will be yet another chapter of the new Chiefs and Bengals rivalry, which has become one of the league’s best in the last few years.

The most notable part of this matchup is that — barring another training camp injury — Joe Burrow will likely have returned to the field and will be a key piece in the matchup. Just a week after Jackson vs. Mahomes, we’ll get Burrow vs. Mahomes.
Another thing to keep in mind is whether the defending champions will start the season 0-2.

Bills Expected To Sign Former Chiefs WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling
After spending two seasons with the Chiefs from 2022-2023, Kansas City let Valdes-Scantling hit free agency earlier this offseason. Now, he’s looking to get another shot with the Buffalo Bills, who are hoping to finally defeat the Chiefs when it matters most.

During his two seasons with Kansas City, Valdes-Scantling caught 63 passes for 1,002 yards and three touchdowns. At 29, turning 30 this October, Valdes-Scantling will be joining the third team of his NFL career, following the Chiefs and Green Bay Packers.

Chiefs Make Two Roster Moves
With so much else going on, the Chiefs must still monitor the rest of their roster too. Kansas City signed linebacker Cole Christiansen on Monday and released defensive tackle Matt Dickerson.
Christiansen had signed with the Los Angeles Chargers in 2020 as an undrafted free agent but spent the 2023 season on the Chiefs’ practice squad. He was signed to the active roster for the postseason following an injury to Cam Jones, taking 70% of the team’s special teams snaps in Super Bowl LVIII.
On the other hand, Dickerson is a six-year veteran out of UCLA who has been on and off of the Chiefs roster since 2022. He appeared in 12 games in 2023, totaling 15 tackles.
