Despite some thinking other areas still needed to be addressed, the Dallas Cowboys stuck to their board and picked who they thought could help them win in the 2024 NFL Draft.
That plan saw them not draft a running back at all, leading to a reunion with Ezekiel Elliott and a chance for the veteran RB to come in and show he still has what it takes to be an impact player in the NFL. That and more in today’s Cowboys news.

Ezekiel Elliott Believes He Is Still a ‘Dominant Guy’
Several takes have been made about the Cowboys’ plan — or lack thereof — at the running back position. Many had connected the team to names like Jonathon Brooks and other early-round RBs in last week’s draft. Instead, they stood pat, took no one, and chose to bring Elliott back into the fold.
There has been pushback amongst the fans and those who cover the team if adding Elliott was truly enough to help this team win. Beyond the sentimental value it would provide to bring a lovable player once adored by the fanbase back into the fold is whether he can be a meaningful reinforcement.
Some have their doubts as Elliott has seen his production decrease almost yearly since his breakout rookie season in 2016. However, Elliott spoke to The Athletic and stated he is excited to use 2024 in Dallas, a place he is most comfortable in, as a chance to prove he can still be a dominant back in the NFL.
The value of having a power running back who can hammer out first downs and touchdowns in short-yardage situations is surely valuable, but Elliott seems determined to prove he is more than just that.

Dak Prescott Cleared of Any Wrong-Doing From 2017 Assault Claim
News leaked early in the offseason that Dak Prescott was suing a woman for attempts to extort the QB. The woman claimed that Prescott sexually assaulted her back in 2017, and she was looking for closure in a civil suit case, a situation that Prescott has vehemently denied.
However, as the case of Prescott counter-suing the woman for what he deemed to be extortion-type practices began, all while adamantly keeping his innocence through it all, the Dallas area police opened an investigation into the woman’s claims of assault.
Fast forward to the current day, and the Dallas area police cleared Prescott of any wrong and it was reported that the QB will face no charges for the alleged assault.

Brandin Cooks Mentoring Jalen Tolbert as WR Heads Into Important Third Season
The Cowboys sent Michael Gallup to free agency this offseason and waited until the sixth round to draft a WR, setting the stage for the guys already on the roster needing to be the ones who step up for the Cowboys in 2024. The biggest spotlight of the bunch belongs to third-year receiver Jalen Tolbert.
Tolbert has been sparingly used since entering the league, but that looks set to be changed significantly. With a need for a true WR3 to emerge from the group, veteran WR Brandin Cooks has taken it upon himself to take Tolbert under his wing in hopes of jump-starting the young WR’s career and bringing it to new heights.
Nick Harris of the Cowboys’ team site took a chance to speak with the receivers and profiled what that mentorship has looked like — and what it could mean for the Cowboys in 2024.
