Miami Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel wasn’t kidding when he said that no team has ever complained about having too many pass rushers.
McDaniel’s Dolphins added another Saturday, taking prolific Colorado State pass rusher Mohamed Kamara in the fifth round of the 2024 NFL Draft.

The Fit
Questions about the Dolphins’ pass rush should quiet after this weekend. Yes, Jaelan Phillips and Bradley Chubb are still injury question marks. But if they’re unavailable for Week 1, the Dolphins should have enough in Shaq Barrett, first-round pick Chop Robinson, and now Kamara.
The Kamara pick might be redundant, but credit Chris Grier for staying true to his best-player available approach.
“I’m very, very angry going the round I did,” Kamara told reporters after the pick.

Kamara, a native of Newark, N.J., was the Mountain West Defensive Player of the Year in 2023 after putting up 13 sacks and 17 tackles for loss in 12 games his final year. In five collegiate seasons, Kamara totaled 29.5 sacks and 45.5 TFLs.
Even though he’s not the biggest edge defender, Kamara told reporters he’s comfortable playing both standing up and with his hand in the dirt.
“I got to put my foot in the ground and keep moving forward,” Kamara said. “As much as I respect them, hopefully they respect me, and we all work together. Hopefully I’ll be in that [OLB] room for a long time.”

“The Dolphins double-dip at the edge position, landing one of the top pass rushers from the Group of Five level. Mohamed Kamara logged double-digit tackle for loss in consecutive seasons to end his Rams’ career, and heads to the NFL on the back of a 13-sack season.
“An impressive athlete with a good pass rush toolbox, he can translate that college production to the NFL in Miami.
