Defenses seeking to take on a nastier demeanor next season will turn to the 2024 NFL Draft to find any available destructive forces out there.
Count on Bralen Trice to be considered by multiple teams. Here’s a closer look at the incoming rookie from his intangibles to his past accolades to his NFL potential.
How Tall Is Bralen Trice?
No, Trice doesn’t boast above-average height for his position of edge rusher.
But at 6’3″, his frame is more than formidable enough for it not to be a concern on Sundays. Trice is only an inch below the average height for NFL defenders of his position. Outside of his tall frame, Trice comes with a wingspan of 77 5/8″ that he’s used effectively on the field.
How Much Does Trice Weigh?
There’ll likely be analysts who’ll look at Trice’s mass and believe he’s on the light side.
While edge rushers average 264 in pounds in the league, Trice is nowhere close to that mark as a 245-pounder. However, teams will grow more impressed with what Trice does at his weight.
He emerged as one of the quicker EDGE prospects in the draft by accelerating to a 4.72 time in the 40-yard dash. He went on to become the sixth-fastest edge rusher in this upcoming rookie class and the only one to crack the 4.7 range.
How Old Is Trice?
Trice won’t be the youngest prospect in this upcoming draft class.
At 23, he hits the average age of this year’s incoming group of rookies. And because of his age, he’s equipped with extensive playing experience at the college level — all of it in the Power Five conference realm until his final campaign of 2023.
What School Did Trice Go To?
Trice is heading to the league as one of the last prospects from the Pac-12.
He first committed to the University of Washington as part of the 2019 class. The Huskies, at the time, were getting the state of Arizona’s No. 8 overall prospect by 247Sports.
The three-star was recruited by Alabama and Oregon, and he was also pursued heavily by Notre Dame before choosing the Huskies.
Revisiting Trice’s College Career
While Michael Penix Jr. and his dynamic wideout trio of Rome Odunze, Ja’Lynn Polk, and Jalen McMillan lit up the scoreboard and grabbed the attention of NFL personnel, Trice anchored the opposite unit.
He went on to deliver 101 total tackles, including 63 solo stops. But his pass rushing took a fiery turn following a two-sack performance in 2021. Trice collected a combined 16 sacks in his last two CFB seasons.

Trice took down his share of intriguing first round NFL quarterback talents during his run at UW. He sacked 2023 Heisman Trophy winner Jayden Daniels not once, but twice on Nov. 13, 2021 during a time the LSU star played for Arizona State. In addition to Daniels, Trice brought down Oregon’s Bo Nix in 2022 and projected No. 1 selection Caleb Williams of USC last season.
Trice came after these QBs and other passers with furious tenacity. He told NBC Sports during the NFL Combine that he takes pride in having a “lunatic” attitude in going after quarterbacks.
“I just attribute that to the effort and the killer mentality that I always try to bring every single day,” Trice said in Indianapolis. “I think in lining up against offensive linemen regardless of size, you’ve got to be able to think that you’re going to put this guy into the dirt. I’m going to get past this guy to get to the QB. For me, that means just straight running through the guy.”
Trice’s Potential In the NFL
Defenses have to love Trice’s track record of bringing down big-name quarterbacks.
PFN’s draft analyst Ian Cummings raved about Trice’s sack production in his evaluation of the Husky.
“Trice’s production as a pass-rusher was superb through 2022 and 2023, and that goes beyond the sacks. He’s one of the most consistent edge defenders when it comes to generating pressure,” Cummings wrote. “At the foundation of that pressure generation is a devastating mix of explosiveness, power, agility, hand variance, and relentless energy.”
No doubt Cummings believes Trice’s skill set will translate nicely to the pro game. He did point out bend and leverage as Trice’s noticeable flaws — both of which have prevented him from earning a first-round projection.

Cummings, though, lists Trice as a top-100 prospect with mid-Day 2 capital — meaning the second and third round is his ceiling. PFN’s consensus mock draft projects Trice will be taken 60th overall by the Buffalo Bills, who are dealing with an aging Von Miller and lost Leonard Floyd via NFL free agency.
Overall, Trice is expected to initially emerge as a situational asset capable of igniting a team’s pass rush and eventually push for a starting job.
