Tulane QB Michael Pratt is an experienced starter who improved just about every year at college. Now hoping to break through as a likely Day 3 pick, let’s look back at Pratt’s path to entering the 2024 NFL Draft.
Where Did Michael Pratt’s Football Career Start?
Pratt didn’t start playing football until he joined his high school team at Boca Raton Community High School in Boca Raton, Fla. Pratt spent three years there before transferring to Deerfield Beach High School for his senior year.

Despite his limited experience, Pratt was a three-star recruit. Although all of his Division I offers were from mid-majors or FCS schools, it’s still impressive that he had 15 of them. Pratt decided to go with Tulane.
Revisiting Pratt’s College Career
Tulane
From the moment he set foot at Tulane, he was the starting quarterback. As a freshman, Pratt started 10 games, throwing for 1,806 yards and 20 touchdowns with eight interceptions while also rushing for eight touchdowns.
As a sophomore, Pratt took a step forward. In 12 games, he threw for 2,390 yards, 21 touchdowns, and eight interceptions.

In 2022, Pratt’s junior year, he progressed even more. That year, Pratt’s completion percentage spiked from 57.8% the previous year to 63.6%. He threw for 3,009 yards and 27 touchdowns with just five interceptions in 13 games.
As a senior in 2023, Pratt’s completion percentage improved again, ticking up to 65.4%. However, in 11 games, he only managed 2,406 passing yards with 22 touchdowns and five interceptions.
Rather than exercise his extra year of eligibility due to the COVID-19 year, Pratt declared for the 2024 NFL Draft.
Pratt’s Potential in the NFL
As a not-overly-productive, small-school quarterback, Pratt would do well to simply make it to the NFL. As PFN draft analyst Ian Cummings explains:
“Pratt doesn’t have elite physical tools, and that’s something that may limit his ceiling in the 2024 NFL Draft. He has above-average arm talent and decent creative value, but his athleticism isn’t translatable as an NFL rushing threat.”

With that said, Pratt does have some tools that could help him carve out a role as a backup.
“The biggest knock on Pratt is that his raw talent is closer to average than elite — but he’s not a talent liability, and there aren’t many glaring concerns outside of that.
“Operationally, Pratt is well-rounded, with a competitive toughness that underlies his game. Suffice it to say, he should be coveted as a high-quality backup in the middle rounds, who could eventually go on to produce as a spot-starter in the right system.”
Highlights, Records, and More
For any non-Power Five prospects, it’s important that they were able to perform at a high level, albeit against weaker competition. Pratt did just that. He earned second-team All-AAC honors in 2022.
In 2023, Pratt was not only first-team All-AAC but also the AAC Offensive Player of the Year. Pratt started the 2023 Cotton Bowl Classic, leading the Green Wave to an epic 46-45 victory over an 11-2 USC team.
