Who Is Jackson Powers-Johnson? Height, Weight, Age, and More

The 2024 NFL Draft is near, and it's loaded, especially at offensive line. That includes Jackson Powers-Johnson. Here's everything to know about him.

The 2024 NFL Draft is almost here, and it’s loaded with talent at every position. Of course that includes the offensive line, and more importantly center.

One of the best available in that department is Oregon’s Jackson Powers-Johnson. Here’s everything there is to know about him.

    How Tall Is Jackson Powers-Johnson?

He didn’t compete in any drills at the NFL Combine, but he did get his measurables taken. Powers-Johnson came in at 6’3 3/8″. This would make him about average height for an interior offensive lineman but below average overall.

The tallest offensive lineman in the NFL is offensive tackle Dan Skipper, who is 6’10”. The shortest is Nick Harris, who is 6’1″ for the Seattle Seahawks.

    How Much Does Powers-Johnson Weigh?

In addition to his height, Powers-Johnson weighed in at 328 pounds, which was down from his 334 pounds at the Senior Bowl. While his height would be about average, his weight would be among some of the biggest on the interior but still not even close to the biggest overall offensive lineman.

The biggest-ever offensive lineman was Aaron Gibbons in 1999, who weighed 410 pounds. The biggest currently is Trent Williams and Daniel Faalele, who both weigh 380 pounds. The lightest, on the other hand, would be Chris Hubbard, who is 295 pounds.

    How Old Is Powers-Johnson?

After a successful college career, Powers-Johnson declared for the NFL as just a junior. He was born on Jan. 23, 2003, meaning he is 21 years old and won’t be 22 until 2025.

Anton Harrison is the youngest lineman in the NFL at 21 years old, while 11 others are 22. The oldest, however, would be Jason Peters, who is 41 years old. He’s followed by Duane Brown and Ty Nsekhe, who are both 38.

What School Did Powers-Johnson Go To?

Powers-Johnson attended Corner Canyon High School in Draper, Utah. During his time there, he played both offensive and defensive line. He had 124 tackles, 7.5 sacks, and two interceptions. He was selected to play in the 2021 Under Armour All-America Game.

Thanks to his success, he was rated as a four-star recruit according to 247Sports. He then committed to the University of Oregon, where he spent his entire collegiate career.

    Revisiting Powers-Johnson’s College Career

For Powers-Johnson, it was a game of patience to find his stardom. As a true freshman in 2021, he played in 11 games as a backup offensive lineman. He did, however, switch to the defensive line for one game, the 2021 Alamo Bowl, where he got the start but did not record any stats.

In 2022, he returned to the offensive line, appearing in 12 games, including his first start. Finally, in 2023, he took over as the team’s starting center and never looked back. He was named a unanimous All-American, was first-team All-Pac-12, and won the Rimington Trophy, which honors the best center in the country.

After declaring for the NFL Draft, he accepted an invite to the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Ala. He didn’t participate in the entire thing but was widely considered one of the better competitors in the early-week practices.

    Powers-Johnson’s Potential in the NFL

According to PFN draft analyst Ian Cummings, Powers-Johnson is a top-50 prospect and the best “pure center” on the board.

“For teams in need of a long-term starter at center, Powers-Johnson is worthy of early Day 2 capital,” Cummings said. “He could ultimately sneak into Round 1 because of his talent, physicality, and positional scarcity.

“The 21-year-old already looks and feels like a high-level NFL starter at the fulcrum. His composite profile helped him win the Rimington Trophy in 2023, and that same profile should help him become an impact NFL starter early in his career.

“At 6’3″, 320 pounds, Powers-Johnson is an explosive and nimble athlete in both the lateral and vertical modes. What’s even more impressive is his power load at that size. Powers-Johnson doesn’t have elite length, but he’s still able to channel massive amounts of power and torque on his extensions, punches, and drive blocks.

“The Oregon Duck has athleticism, strength, and power in high quantities. Powers-Johnson melds it all together with great natural leverage, angle awareness, anticipatory positioning, and nail-eating physicality through reps.”
